How do authors add their books to Bright Haven?

Bright Haven is a curated reading platform built specifically for readers who love clean romance—and for authors who want to be part of something more intentional.

Our goal is simple: create the best possible experience for both readers and authors.

Unlike open platforms, we do not allow unlimited uploads. Instead, we carefully select the authors and titles included in Bright Haven. This allows us to:

• Maintain a consistently high-quality reading experience
• Ensure readers can easily discover great books
• Give each author meaningful visibility
• Avoid overcrowding and content saturation

We are committed to maintaining a strong balance between the number of authors and our subscriber base so that every author has the opportunity to be seen, read, and supported.

What kinds of books and authors is Bright Haven looking for?

Bright Haven is focused on high-quality, clean romance across a wide range of subgenres. This includes contemporary, historical, romantic suspense, small-town, faith-based, and other reader-loved categories—as long as the content aligns with our clean standards.

We are looking for authors who:

• Write engaging, well-crafted romance with strong storytelling
• Maintain clean content (minimal or no explicit sexual content, and mindful use of language and themes)
• Have a growing or established readership
• Are excited to actively participate in promoting their work and engaging with readers

Because Bright Haven is a curated platform, we prioritize authors whose books consistently meet reader expectations for quality, tone, and content. Our goal is to create a trusted space where readers know they can find great stories—and where authors can stand out and build meaningful connections with their audience.

Do you only accept "clean" romance?

Yes. Bright Haven is specifically built as a destination for clean romance readers.

That means all books on the platform are expected to align with reader expectations for clean content, including little to no explicit sexual content and thoughtful handling of language, violence, and other mature themes.

Clean can look different across subgenres, but the guiding principle is simple: readers should be able to trust that any book they pick up on Bright Haven will fit within a consistent, comfortable reading experience.

This focus is a core part of what makes Bright Haven unique—and why readers are choosing the platform.

Do authors pay any fees?

There are no fees to participate in Bright Haven.

We are committed to promoting our authors in as many ways as possible—from trade shows and advertising to PR, featured placements, and community engagement. All promotion is handled by our team at no cost to authors. In fact, authors cannot pay for preferential placement or promotion. Our focus is on creating the best possible experience for readers while giving every author meaningful visibility.

How do authors get paid?

Bright Haven operates on a shared-revenue model.

We distribute a percentage of our overall subscription revenue to authors on a monthly basis. Our goal is to make Bright Haven one of the highest-paying e-reader platforms in the industry.

A key part of that model is maintaining a strong balance between the number of authors and our subscriber base. By limiting the number of titles on the platform, we are able to create better discoverability for readers and stronger earning potential for authors.

What formats are you looking for?

Bright Haven accepts romance novels and novellas in both eBooks and audiobooks.

Unlike many platforms, we are non-exclusive, which means you can continue distributing your books through other retailers while also making them available on Bright Haven.

We work with:

• eBooks (novels and novellas)

• Audiobooks, including both human-narrated and digitally narrated titles

If you have both eBooks and audiobooks, that’s great—we’re happy to include both. If you only have one format, that works too. For example, if your eBooks are tied up elsewhere, we can still work with your audiobooks independently.

If you don’t currently have audiobooks but are interested in adding them, we also offer select opportunities to help produce audiobooks at no upfront cost. In those cases, we partner with authors in exchange for a limited-term exclusive distribution agreement on the audio edition.

Our goal is to be flexible and work with authors in a way that supports their overall publishing strategy.

We keep all submissions on file and review them when we prepare to open the platform to new authors. At that time, we evaluate authors based on fit with our clean romance focus, quality of storytelling, and alignment with the Bright Haven reader experience.
