ACT ONE: CeCe LeBlanc has three things on her summer to-do list: 1- hang out with Portia, 2- squeeze in stealth kissy face time with Zach, and 3- rock the guitar in the Voodoo Bayou quintet. But lingering PTSD and a gruesome murder crash her three-month freedom-from-school tour, and she adds to her list 4- help her dad solve the case.

ACT TWO: Cue the rogue Rougarou—a Louisiana werewolf—who ditches hunting in the bayou to leave bodies scattered through the French Quarter. And the hairy monster’s “you’re next” vibes are directed squarely at CeCe. Suddenly, her summer to-do list looks less 1, 2, 3, and more please don’t eat me.

INTERMISSION: In the wings, another threat awaits. Chanting strangers whose melody chases CeCe. She doesn’t know what they want, but Magic 8 ball says, “Outlook not so good.” And just when she needs him most, CeCe discovers Zach hides a dangerous secret.

ACT THREE: As the threats close in from all sides, CeCe juggles monster hunting, murder-solving, and quintet rehearsals. But the clues are simmering slower than a good gumbo, and the final act is fast approaching. She needs to help her dad crack the case and avoid becoming a werewolf snack, all before the final curtain falls.

She’s ready to cross this mystery off the callback list—if she survives long enough for an encore.

About the Author

After being unfairly accused of plagiarism in the eighth grade, Debbie knew writing was her villain origin story. She did a stint as a local Lois Lane, and also wrote for a bi-weekly online publisher. Her debut novel, Necromancy the Musical, went on to become a double Whitney Award winner in 2024.When not writing, Debbie likes to explore old graveyards, drink the Diet Dr. Peppers, and solve mysteries with her dogs, Sherlock and Watson. She’s a Texas transplant and resides in Houston. In a hurricane, during the apocalypse, or through an extended reading of bad jokes, she would choose her resourceful hubby and talented offspring to guarantee survival.
