Second Chance
Former Navy intelligence officer Haley Franks is done waiting for the system to work. When her best friend disappears and the trail leads to a Russian cop with mob ties, Haley kicks down his door and demands the truth.
She leaves with bruises — and a target on her back.
NCIS Special Agent Niall O’Caran is already investigating that same cop, tracking suspicious ties between the Russian mob and a Portland research college experimenting with a powerful psychotropic compound. The kind of drug that could be sold on the street… or used to manipulate far more than brain chemistry.
When Haley’s off-the-books interrogation blows his surveillance operation apart, Niall scrambles to figure out the answer. Then the Russian turns up dead on the Taskforce’s doorstep. Now Haley is the mob’s loose end, and Niall is running out of time to stop a conspiracy fueled by dirty money, experimental drugs, and foreign influence.
Both of them are on probation. Both have something to prove.
But clearing their names will mean exposing a network willing to kill anyone who asks the wrong questions.
And this time, the second chance might be their last.
