It’s her first Christmas with her birth family… Thanks to a bone marrow donation from her newly discovered sister, interior designer Allison Miers has just beat cancer and has been welcomed into her new family, the Bertrands of Cypress Bayou. She’s been curious about her birth family for years, and it seems they’re all trying to make amends for her mother abandoning her—even offering a trust fund if she’ll stay a year and give the town a chance. As Allison arrives in town amidst preparations for the Cypress Bayou Christmas Festival, she’s quickly overwhelmed by the drama and competition between both sides of her birth families. Local mechanic Nick Landry is the most normal person she’s met so far, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s also handsome and friendly. Just as Allison starts to wonder if she’s finally found a new home, family, and a man to love, she discovers that Nick—just like both sides of her family—has been keeping his own secrets. Family is all Allison has ever wanted, but should she listen to her head or her heart this unforgettable Christmas?

small town Christmas romance

Allison is spending the holidays with her birth family and to fulfill a promise to her new grandmother. Her vehicle barely makes it to town with her possessions. As she's about to call for help, a good samaritan from the auto shop across the street offers help. Turns out Nick knows her family, as does everyone else in Cypress Bayou.

Nick is a mechanic, but he also oversees his family's small auto repair shop chain. A good man who hasn't found the right woman who's interested in him and not the money from his business, he's cautious when it comes to his heart.

Allison and Nick keep running into each other, work together on the town's Christmas light displays, and hang out with a bunch of his friends, plus he fits in with her family. As they spend time together, a friendship develops and it could lead to more, but Allison doesn't know if she's staying and Nick has trust issues.

As Allison acclimates to her new town, a new job, and extra family are part of her world. Nana's unexpected illness changes a few stipulations, and Allison is still not sure where she fits in, but the time with Nick is treasured.

Everything Allsion and Nick have ever wanted is right there within their grasp, but each must learn to open their hearts to commitment, if it's not too late. Christmas in Cypress Bayou is a special time and this is a beautiful story with love, romance, family, and the magic of the holidays.

Romance with Family Drama

A Bayou Christmas by Susan Sands is the third book in the Louisiana Series. It is also Allison’s story of coming to Louisiana to be part of the unusual Bertrand family of Cypress Bayou. This series is tied together in a small town where everyone knows everyone and minds everyone’s business. This is one of the hardest things for Allison to accept coming from the Midwest where she had privacy. Not much to be found in Cypress Bayou.

Still many good people in this town with Allison meeting one of the best as she arrives to spend the holidays there. Local mechanic Nick Landry is not just good but one of the best along with the main characters from the first two books. As Allison adjust, her birth family has problems, meddles, and surround her with love. Unlike the second book not nearly as many revelations or mysteries, just normal quirky family. The epilogue sums it all up beautifully.

A Bayou Christmas is a wonderful finding your place in this world story. I would recommend reading the books in order since many of the events in the first two books come up in conversations.

An ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Christmas Romance on the Bayou

Susan Sands writes wonderful small-town Christmas stories, so I was excited to find that the third in her Louisiana series, A BAYOU CHRISTMAS, takes place around Christmas in Cypress Bayou. It was even more exciting to see the Christmas preparation through the eyes of someone new in town.
Allison Meiers found out she was adopted when she was young and always wondered about her birth parents and why they gave her up, checking the “no contact” box on the adoption paperwork. A cancer diagnosis and need for a bone marrow transplant brought her into the lives of the sisters that didn’t know she existed but welcomed her with open arms. Now she’s agreed to live in Cypress Bayou for a year, giving her maternal birth family a chance, and trying to figure out what’s next in her life. It’s a bit overwhelming, so she’s lucky that Nick Landry, who came to her rescue when she hit town, seems to be interested in spending time with her, giving her a chance to relax and fully be herself.
With fun characters, a gorgeous setting (can I go to Cypress Bayou for Christmas? Or any time?), and an interesting storyline, A BAYOU CHRISTMAS is a page turner that is perfect to curl up with while you are resting from your own holiday preparations. I hope we get another visit to Cypress Bayou to see what happens with Allison’s other sister, Elizabeth.
Thanks to the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced copy of the novel. All opinions are my own and freely given.

Heartwarming

A Bayou Christmas by Susan Sands, book three in her Louisiana series, was a wonderful read; small town charm, interesting characters, romance, and intriguing suspense. The town of Cypress Bayou is a small-town full of interesting characters and big secrets, some dark and dangerous. After beating cancer and meeting her biological family, Allison Miers returns to Cypress Bayou to celebrate the holidays with her birth family and to fulfill a promise to her new grandmother. As her vehicle barely makes it to town with her possessions, she pulls into a parking lot to call for help when a good Samaritan from the auto shop across the street offers help. Nick Landry is a mechanic, but also oversees his family's small auto repair shop chain. Nick is a good man who hasn't found the right woman, who's interested in him and not the money from his business, he's cautious when it comes to his heart. Allison and Nick keep running into each other, work together on the town's Christmas light displays, and hang out with a bunch of his friends, plus he fits in with her family. As they spend time together, a friendship develops and it could lead to more, but although Allison is enjoying her living in this small town, she is unsure if she's staying and Nick has trust issues.

Nana's unexpected illness changes a few stipulations, and Allison is still not sure where she fits in, but the time with Nick is treasured. Everything Allison and Nick have ever wanted is right there within their grasp, but each must learn to open their hearts to commitment, if it's not too late. With a little holiday magic and the help of her family and new friends, Allison just might have found herself a new home and a new love, with Nick. Christmas in Cypress Bayou is a special time and this is a beautiful story with love, romance, family, and the magic of the holidays. I highly recommend A Bayou Christmas to other readers.
