Wonderful Read

Bayou Redemption by Susan Sands, book four in her Louisiana series, a charming romance set in the small town of Cypress Bayou; with small town charm, interesting characters, and secrets.

Dr. Elizabeth Keller, a skilled cardiac surgeon at the local trauma hospital, is not a very well-liked person in Cypress Bayou. Dr. Charlie Beaudoin a cardiologist is hired by the hospital to her new partner; but Elizabeth is wary of that she will no longer be the head of the department. Elizabeth soon finds herself drawn to his charm and sincerity; as Charlie brings the best out of her. With his encouragement, she tries to overcome her mean girl persona, from high school days, to be friendly and caring. She and Charlie soon discover many things the hospital had budgeted for are not in place when a hurricane is due to hit the town. Elizabeth takes charge, uses her contacts and readies the hospital safe space, which before was a locked up, empty room, in anticipation of people in need. Between injuries and families needing a safe space the community rallies together to help furnish the space and provide warm meals for the residents. It is through this that the town discovers what a compassionate person she really is.

Ms. Sands provided a mixture of romance, drama, and suspense, along with a small town rocked by scandals and a looming hurricane in this must read story; that will warm your heart and have you believing in second chances. The chemistry between Elizabeth and Charlie sizzles, as secrets and threats emerge, Elizabeth and Charlie must decide if their budding romance is worth fighting for

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Enjoy Getting to Know Elizabeth and Charlie!

What a fun return to Cypress Bayou in Susan Sands’s BAYOU REDEMPTION, the fourth book in the series. Elizabeth Keller is a skilled cardio-thoracic surgeon and the head of the department (and the only surgeon in the department). She doesn’t have the friendliest reputation in town and has also butted heads with the good ol’ boy network in charge of the hospital. She’s understandably upset when Dr. Charlie Beaudoin is hired by the Board to join her department. Charlie was happy to be out of New Orleans and in a smaller environment working with someone as capable as Elizabeth and is disappointed to realize Elizabeth knew nothing about his hiring.
Charlie is a genuinely nice guy and Elizabeth is working hard to be the person her half-sister and nephew can be proud of. I enjoyed watching Elizabeth grow and become a person she is happy with, especially after being so unlikeable in the first three books. I also loved watching her navigate the family she gained with her half sister’s other side, including one that she’d had an ongoing rivalry with.
Sands has created another heartwarming romantic story, full of likeable characters, interesting twists, and family. Though it’s part of a series which adds an extra layer of richness, this one can be read as a standalone. I will be disappointed to see this series end.
Thank you to the publisher for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of the novel. All opinions are my own and freely given.

Bayou Redemption

Bayou Redemption by Susan Sands
This story starts out with Doctor Elizabeth who is a cardiologist and works at the local trauma hospital. Her family lives in town also and there is a lot of drama and past stories to learn about. There is also a new doctor, a cardiologist that is also hired at work and Elizabeth fears she will no longer be the head of the department. She gets to know Dr. Charlie and likes him a lot as they do work together. They are able to discover many things the hospital had budgeted for that are not in place when the hurricane is due to hit them. There is so much going on and injuries occur and how they all handle them. So many in the community come to help them out. Love that and how the problems the different generations are faced with, are handled. Realize author knows about hurricanes with the words in the story and how to relief the pressure. She does her homework.
Love how Dr. Charlie steps back after all the help and caring Elizabeth has given him. It's for her own good. Ypu wonder if she will ever learn of his secrets or if he will leave the area like his last place of occupation… Excellent story. Other works by the author are listed at the end.
Received this review copy from the publisher and this is my honest opinion.

New Beginnings

Dr. Elizabeth Keller is an accomplished cardiac surgeon and the head of Cardiology at the hospital. She also knows she is fighting against the good old boys club to keep her position, which is why she is livid to find out the hospital administrator has hired another cardiac surgeon, who just so happens to be a man, without even consulting her.

Charlie is ready for a new beginning in a new place. He is shocked at the icy welcome from Elizabeth. Charlie will have to slowly chip away at her iciness. He has no desire to be the head of the department. Now he just has to convince Elizabeth that his intentions are honorable. Elizabeth has kept everyone at arm's length for so long, that she has no friends. Those impenetrable walls that she has built for protection make it hard for anyone to approach her. She not only feels she must protect her job, but the family's recent scandal has made this even harder for her.

As Charlie and Elizabeth work together, everyone sees changes in Elizabeth. Elizabeth needed to let the walls down, find forgiveness in her heart and make steps to befriend people in her circle. A hurricane is bearing down on the hospital which means all hands on deck.

I really enjoyed this book and this series. The characters are interesting and easy to like. I immediately liked Charlie. I could see that he was exactly the kind of friend that Elizabeth needed in her life. She just needed to let go. I also enjoyed the softer side of Elizabeth when she was playing aunt showing that babies can soften those rough edges. The hurricane scene at the end gets a little hairy. I dearly loved the conclusion of this book. I smiled for an hour after finishing it. You will understand when you read it.

Thank you to Tule Publishing and the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I loved Elizabeth’s story

Elizabeth Keller is a cardiac surgeon and desires a new start, a fresh beginning. It is a very difficult task being a member of a family full of scandals. She works and lives in the same town she grew up in. The residents of Cypress Bayou can’t seem to forget the kind of person she was when she was younger. Dr. Charlie Beaudoin arrives in Cypress Bayou trying to escape his past. Leaving New Orleans behind, he is ready for a new beginning, a fresh start. Elizabeth and Charlie are co-workers but Elizabeth, fears that he may be there to replace her. When a hurricane is threatens the Bayou, with mass destruction to the town and the hospital, Elizabeth and Charlie join forces to protect the residents of the town. Romance between the two is unavoidable and the storm is shaking up more than just the town.

Bayou Redemption authored by Susan Sands is a wonderful unputdownable story about love, new beginnings and second chances. I loved the flip of every page of this book. I love the character of Elizabeth and that she would go to great lengths to save her patients. She loved the town and was invested in the people of the town. I also really enjoyed the story of Charlie he was looking for a new beginning and in the process found love. The twists and turns and the suspense of this story was a welcome surprise. I couldn’t wait to get to the end. I have enjoyed this series so much, it is a favorite of mine. I love the description of the Bayou and felt like I lived there. Sands is amazing at pulling the reader into the story and not letting them go. This is the fourth book and final installment in the phenomenal Louisiana Series. You could read this as a standalone novel but my suggestion is begin at book one and read the entire series. It is so good and you will want to follow the characters through the whole series. This is one that will stay with me for a while. I highly recommend this ten star read.
