He drives her crazy, but he might be the only one who can keep her alive. No pressure.

Elise has always known her dad was murdered. Now that his body’s been found, she’s trading grief for grit and doing what any sensible heroine would do—build a suspect list, color-code their alibis, and prove to the police that this was no suicide.

Enter Dylan—the blue-haired, relentlessly cheerful co-coach, who keeps “accidentally” showing up to help. He’s inconveniently handsome, pathologically optimistic, and cares too much for Elise to let her hunt a killer alone.

Clues pile up. Threats escalate. And suddenly, the killer has Elise in their sights. To outpace a murderer, she’ll have to drop her defenses, accept support from the human golden retriever at her side, and admit the sparks flying between them have nothing to do with their speedy mile splits.

Perfect for readers who love romcom banter, cozy mystery twists, and a sweet/clean slow burn with swoony kisses.

Editorial Reviews

"The cross-country tie-in adds intensity, the action keeps the story engaging, and the romance builds beautifully. The final moments had me on the edge of my seat in the best way. The mystery? Absolutely gripping."

This book definitely has a killer pace!

This is such a fun story! I don't usually read mysteries or New Adult romances, but this book drew me in right from the start. Elise and Dylan's banter was fun, and there were enough suspects that I didn't know until near the ending who the killer was. Great start to a new series! Oh, and I learned a lot about cross-country running, too. I've always been a football/baseball fan for sports romances, but reading about runners was fun. The author definitely knows the subject. Looking forward to the next book!

Cozy Mystery Meets Sports Romance

If you’re looking for a fun cozy mystery check out this debut by @mollyannstratford_author .

“Anyone who had ever seen a horror film knew that the moment people split up, things started to go south.”

I giggled as I read this statement because three seconds before I thought, “Don’t split up or one of you will get it!”

You’ll laugh a little, you’ll hope a little, you’ll feel sad a little but in the end you get your HEA with a little bit of anesthesia goofiness on the side...

Side note: does anyone actually enjoy coming out of anesthesia? I’m with Dylan, cereal is super great!

I have a feeling things will get all murdery again soon with Molly’s plans for another book using some side characters. I guess we’ll stay tuned!

Clean and thrilling novel. Highly recommend.

This was a very fun and exciting book. I was hooked in the first chapter. And I loved that it was clean as well. Just goes to show you don't need smut for a book to be good. I can't wait to read the next one!
