Thirty-six-year-old Kara Smith plans on cocoa, carols, and absolutely zero drama.

Instead she gets: a snowbank, a dead phone, and a stalker who apparently majored in Alarm Codes 101. Good thing she knows exactly who to call—Mr. Almost-Too-Perfect with a tow strap, a reluctant smile, and muscles that should come with a warning label.

Enter Nolan Burgess: single dad, small-business owner, and the man who’s been half in love with Kara since day one. He digs her out, warms her up, and refuses to pretend those threats piling up in her mailbox are just pranks.

As the countdown to Christmas Eve accelerates, suspects pile up, chemistry ignites, and questionable gifts start appearing on Kara’s doorstep.

Nolan’s plan to take care of the threat involves a neighbor’s rickety treehouse, a granny with a cane that doubles as a shillelagh, and a good old-fashioned stakeout. Unfortunately, everything goes south, and Kara ends up trapped in a car with the very person she hoped to never see face-to-face. Can she turn the trap on her captor before he vanishes with her for good?

Such a fun read!

This book was such a perfect mix of fun and suspense—I was hooked from start to finish! I loved seeing Nolan and Kara’s relationship grow from wariness to friendship to real trust. And everyone needs an Edna in their life-hilarious, tough, and a heart of gold! She had me laughing all through the book.

Kisses only contemporary mild suspense

This is the 4th book in the Kisses and Capers in Rancho Invitado series. It is a kisses only book. The others in this series are more Young Adult than this one. Some of those young people are mentioned in this book as children of the adults in the town. This can easily be read as a standalone story.I think I enjoyed this more because it was about adults than I did some of the others in the series.I was rushed for time, so I did listen to much of this using Kindle assistant reader. While listening, I was able to follow along well and enjoy the story, but consuming the book that way has made it harder for me to remember specific aspects.I was given the opportunity to read an advanced digital copy of this book. I am voluntarily leaving and honest review.

Great Christmas Suspense

A great christmas-y read. Made me think of all the fun traditions we've got and consider adding a few.Great character who had to work through real issues with real emotions. It helps you feel seen in the world and maybe hopeful that you can have good things too.The perfect amount of suspense/mystery to keep you reading but enough romcom to be able to sleep at night.Content:Style - dual pov, Contemporary suspense Mystery (“older couple” 30s I think, friends to more, found family)Intimacy - Moderate (kissing)Language - NoneViolence - High (pointing gun)Potential Triggers - stranded in storm/ hypothermia, stalking/ threats, attempted sexual assault, harassment and awful humans
