What is a fisherman to do when he catches a mermaid in his net? Let her go—or fall in love?

A Regency Romance Cornwall, 1815

As a well-respected fisherman in the Cornish seas, Trevik Honeysett provides a living for many poor families in the southwest of Cornwall. Despite the most powerful fishing companies attempting to cut off his own ability to fish, Trevik refuses to give up. However, when he discovers a mysterious, injured woman entangled in his net, things become much more complicated—especially when suspicions arise that she is, in fact, a mermaid. Knowing he might very well lose his workers to their superstitious beliefs, Trevik decides to uncover just who the woman is. The only problem is…she can’t remember.

In truth, Morvoren Hollow knows exactly who she is. She merely needs to keep her identity a secret long enough to accomplish what she’d set off to do. Fortunately, pretending to be a mermaid will keep Society away long enough to do just that. Her lie becomes harder to manage, however, as her injury takes longer to heal—and as the nosy but handsome fisherman reels closer to the truth.

The two clash head-to-head as Trevik refuses to believe Morvoren is actually a siren from the sea. But such a thing would be easier to imagine than what he finally discovers about her past. Fearful of what might happen next, Morvoren must decide her next step. She can either learn to trust again—or end up truly alone.

This is the fourth book in the clean Regency Cornish Romance series by Deborah M. Hathaway. Although this romance is a stand-alone novel, the books are best enjoyed when listened to in order.

Lovely story

I will admit that the heroine irritated me at times, but then, they were both young, scared and confused. The ending is lovely and extended, all t's crossed and i's dotted...just the way I like it. The Cardy's are annoying. Overall it was just a lovely clean story worth reading.

Part of a series but stands alone

Trevik Honeysett a fisherman who provides for a needs of the village, pulls Morvoren Hollow out of his nets and his family provides for her recovery. She had been swimming after she had run away from her abusive uncle and marriage to an unacceptable man. Things get complicated when some of the villagers think she is a mermaid which causes problems with the sailors who work for him. They want her to leave and Trevik finds he wants her to stay, but there are other problems also. An interesting and riveting story of love, sacrifice and doing the right thing.

A Mermaid and Myths

Morvoren Hollow runs away from an abusive uncle who is trying to advance his business by marrying her off to the son of a potential business partner. Her uncle is an unscrupulous businessman who has taken advantage of others. Trevik Honeysett runs a fishing business with a boat called a lugger and loves working on the sea. The two meet under unusual circumstances and start off on the wrong foot. There are lies and misunderstandings, but a friendship develops anyway. Some of Trevik’s fishermen believe she is a mermaid or siren who is a danger to the village, and they spread all kinds of myths and rumors, which do not help Morvoren’s situation. I liked Morvoren’s spunky personality and the welcoming friendship and goodness of Trevik’s mom and sister. Trevik takes a little bit longer to let go of his mistrust. I enjoyed seeing the changes in the main characters.
