Delightful Dialogue for an Amusing Reluctant Romance

Ashtyn found a wonderful way to create an intriguing situation. As playmates Harriet’s sister and best friend are mystified as to why Harriet and William had abruptly stopped being friends. Reading the book before this one explains why Grace and Harriet made a wager. This is a series best read in order to really understand the motivation of the characters. Years ago William saved Harriet’s life. In this story, she saves his life many years after they stopped talking to one another. Now he has amnesia so she thinks she will escape the requirements of the wager. Fun and fascination affect her beyond her expectations. Absolutely loved this book.

He still fancies Miss Harriett Weston and enjoys her company. Can he remember what when on prior to the accident? Well written, colorful characters. This writer can take u a different place and time, even a different world. Very good book to transport mind back into history, culture. A truly sweet, good hearted read.

Wonderful story but flaws abound

The author creates enchanting stories but lacks an attention to detail for continuity. I blame her editors for that. She needs a completely new editing team. The beginning of the book talks about lilacs and how they are out of season and the bushes dormant in the fall, yet William gives her a bouquet of them shortly after. Lilacs are not strong enough to even be imported, much less in the early 1800's. Other details like this are flubbed thru the entire series of books not to mention the large amount of textual errors in formatting and paragraphing, you vs your, etc. The stories are wonderful and I enjoyed reading them, but would have enjoyed them so much more if the editors had done their job.

Absolutely Adorable Romance

After meeting Harriett in her sister’s story, "Romancing Lord Ramsbury," I was eager to see how her romance played out, especially after it was set up so perfectly. I’m glad I read the precursor book after this one was already released so that I have to wait to find out what happens. Goodness, "Miss Weston’s Wager" was both adorable and heartbreaking. I’ve never read a romance with an amnesia plot, nor have I read very many stories featuring a second chance for love. Those two tropes combined with a childhood-friends-to-lovers romance made for a thoroughly enjoyable story.I liked Harriett, but goodness, I fell in love with William. He was just so adorable—so happy, kind, optimistic, and thoroughly endearing. (Not to mention he's a painter. How cute is that?) I loved watching him and Harriett rekindle their friendship and fall in love all over again, despite Harriett's stubborn resistance. Their romance was woven with frequent flashbacks from their fun and imaginative childhood, as well as the events that caused them to separate, which helped us get a complete picture of their relationship. I loved seeing how time, friendship, and love were able to heal the hurts of these characters' past in order to create forgiveness and another chance for love for them; the message about living in the present rather than the past was especially touching. Both Harriett and William experienced such a lovely growth and transformation, all set against the lovely Brighton seaside setting. While Harriett clung to her dreams of marrying for wealth and title over love a bit too long (seriously, if William was in love with me, nothing would keep me from him!), and the meddling of William’s over-protective mother was annoying, overall Miss Weston’s Wager was delightful. This is definitely one of my favorites by this author. So cute and sweet.

I will read everything this author writes!

Ashtyn Newbold has quickly become a favorite author of mine! Her Regency stories never cease to captivate or entertain me, and her ability to consistently tug at my heartstrings always leaves me aching to read another one of her books, then another, and another. She knows how to spin enchanting, memorable stories with heroes that will leave you swooning! This book was no exception! William was all you could want in a hero. Sweet, forgiving, funny, kind and a great friend. No, he's not perfect of course, but I thought he was perfect for Harriett. I really enjoyed reading Harriett's story after being introduced to her in Romancing Lord Ramsbury. While reading this book I was torn between wanting to finish the book because I wanted to know what happened, and not wanting to finish it because I was loving every word and I didn't want to say goodbye to the characters! This will definitely be on my reread list! I've read several books by this author and I have come to find, (in my opinion) that she is a master storyteller in the Regency genre. Her books are the perfect blend of all you could want in a great regency story: sweet romance, a well written story, memorable characters that you'll love, an interesting storyline, lots of laughs, swoony kisses, and of course a happily ever after. I will read everything Newbold writes! I've been so impressed with her work, and I know now that each time I pick up one of her books that I'm going to get a fantastic story that will make me feel all the feels! Oh!... And is it bad that I've come to "crave" her books? Like, if it's been too long since I read one then I start to miss or crave them! I will definitely keep coming back to her books over and over again. So, to the author: PLEASE keep the stories coming!
