There may be time for one last match this Season-- All it will take is a little tenacity. Lady Charlotte Blackmore has spent her life helping the vulnerable find refuge at The Asylum for Orphaned Girls. But now her association with Seth threatens that—members on the committee refuse to trust a woman who they believe has set her cap at a man decidedly below her station. While Charlotte declares otherwise, Sir Seth Mulgrave is even more adamant. He failed the woman he cared for once. Now, over two decades later, he’s not willing to take a chance on love again. Knowing how important Charlotte’s work is to her, Seth proposes a plan—they will convince society they are only friends. Proving you’re only friends with someone you care deeply for is not as easy as it sounds, though. But, pursuing a relationship would mean no longer being able to help young girls at risk—how can either of them be at peace with that? As the forth and final stand-alone novel in a new series by author Laura Rollins, The Tenacious Lady Blackmore ends the Daughters of Courage series with a romance readers are calling "marvelous" and "absolutely delightful". This charming story is a light-hearted, clean and wholesome romance set in the Regency era (think: a clean Bridgerton). All books in this series have their own Happily-Ever-After and can be read apart but are best enjoyed in proper order. About the Author

Laura Rollins has always loved a heart-melting happily ever after. It didn’t matter if the story took place in Regency England, or in a cobbler’s shop, if there was a sweet romance, she would read it.Life has given her many of her own adventures. She still loves to read books and more books; her favorite types of music are classical, Broadway, and country; she loves hiking in the mountains near her home; and she’s been known to debate with her oldest son about whether Infinity is better categorized as a number or an idea.

Hooray for Lady Blackmore!

This book was a great romance with a hint of mystery. Lady Blackmore is a patroness for a orphan asylum for girls. When when of their young women comes begging for a new position, and later adamantly refuses one, Lady Blackmore suspects that something is wrong. With Sir Mulgrave at her side they can handle suspicious behavior, old friends, society gossips, and more. This was the perfect conclusion to an amazing series!

Love this Book!

After having read the first books in the Daughters of Courage series, it was wonderful to learn what happens to Lady Blackmore and Sir Mulgrave.Laura Rollins gives Charlotte and Seth such depth of character in this beautiful novel. I loved learning how they both used their strengths and life experience to help others in need. What made each of them even more real and endearing is that they had feelings of inadequacy or vulnerability. In spite of the ridiculous demands of high society, Seth and Charlotte learn to depend on each other and solve many difficulties and challenges. There are plenty of humorous moments as well as serious ones throughout this lovely story. I enjoyed reading it very much!

Mature Love Overcomes Ridiculous Rules

Seth and Charlotte have a history. It’s exciting. Charlotte arranged for Seth to become a knight due to his saving her life. Details can be found in the previous three books in the Daughters of Courage series. Yet this once can stand alone. Both Seth and Charlotte are old enough to be grandparents. Charlotte has guided Seth’s three daughters to find titled husbands who give them comfortable lives. Now Seth plans to return to the countryside. London makes it quite clear that being a knight puts him below Charlotte’s status as a Marchioness. Both of them do not realize they care for each other. Then a crisis occurs at the asylum Charlotte supports. Seth stays to help her solve the mystery. Another special event occurs when Seth helps babysit Charlotte’s grandson who is teething. Since he has raised three daughters, he shares clever methods with Charlotte. There are tender moments like this which help them see how life can be shared. Also, when they work together to save a kidnapped girl, they use their abilities to make a courageous rescue. They overcome strict rules of society in order for their romance to become a priority.

Great romance, weak plot

The romance is great and the writing engaging, but I felt the plot on this one was weak. The general premise is that Seth and Charlotte have an unacknowledged attachment to each other (something that has been building throughout the series), but that connection is interfering with Charlotte’s work with the Orphan Asylum she is a patroness of. The asylum committee feels her connection to Seth is an indication that she has lost her good judgment, and though they are happy to take her money, they begin cutting her out of any decision making and speaking ill of her within society. There are two main components to the plot (outside of the romance), both of which felt forced to me.1. Lady Blackmore’s rejection by the asylum committee — Her judgment? It doesn’t seem to me her judgment would be in question. Her reputation and standing in Society, sure. Though her title, fortune, age, and widowhood seem sufficient to mute the bulk of any backlash. Society doesn’t seem to have a problem with it, though, just this committee and only in regards to her decision-making. She has been a key financial supporter and decision maker for the Asylum for two decades. It seems highly unlikely the committee would risk her pulling her funds because they think she’s suddenly lost her ‘judgement’.2. A girl from the asylum, Emma, is reported to have requested a new position but then changed her mind after speaking with Lord Windham at the asylum. Lady Blackmore obsesses over this for most of the book, despite the girl’s assurance that she’s fine and request that she remain where she is. It just seemed unrealistic that such a big deal would be made over one girl and one reported request. All that said, the romance between Seth and Charlotte is the sweetest. Their relationship is really well done, especially with the build-up over the series. If we had their relationship over a more realistic and compelling plot, it would have certainly made for a favorite of the series… but alas.Content:There is no foul language or sex. There is some violence, but it’s not excessive. The romance is limited to a few lightly descriptive kisses. There is no mention of faith or God.Trigger warning - human trafficking, a child is kidnapped but rescued
