Can a practical joke lead to true love?

For years, Joanna Crosby has longed to catch Dr. Edward Vaughn’s attention, but like every other man, he hardly knows she exists—until a very public prank binds the two of them together and leaves them with one choice: ruination or matrimony.

Who could’ve done such a thing?

Eddie doesn’t know, but with Joanna’s reputation in tatters and society accusing her of masterminding the situation to trap him, his honor won’t allow him to abandon her. Even if that means pretending to be a doting husband.

But when Joanna mistakes his actions as genuine love, she offers her heart to a man who’s only doing his duty…Will she ever capture his heart? Or will he crush hers?

Eddie vs. Edward

Delightful story that is not realistic BUT maybe... I normally get caught up immediately in Nichols' tales. This one took me longer because I didn't know how the heroine was ever going to shine and the hero seemed too perfect, kind and good. Nichols did not disappoint, though. Multiple characters, old and new, moved in their arc of maturity. I truly enjoyed this book.

An intriguing medical slant on a family saga

I read the first four books in The Vaughns series. Each book can stand alone but also links to family members in the other books. They are well written with very relatable characters and I thoroughly enjoyed reading them.

What happened to the sweet gentle kiss? What happened to anything that was good and beautiful? The reader is not so hard up as to enjoy this kind of writing..

Lovely story!!!

M.A. Nichols has such a unique way of telling a story that delves into her characters thoughts and feelings. Always look forward to reading her novels. Not your typical lighthearted read.

only okay

The writing style was very competent, but the main character descriptions bored the reader. The romance dragged on and on. The hero and heroine were engulfed in significant personality flaws . It was actually doubtful that the flaws were overcome for a HEA outcome.
