Town marshal Danna Carpenter may never get used to being a woman in a man’s job. She’s determined to prove herself, but the danger may prove too much…

When private detective Chas O’Grady arrives in town, he threatens to upset the orderly life Danna has built for herself. Charming where Danna is stern, with his city manners and sharp wit, Chas is her polar opposite.

When Danna and Chas interrupt a bank robbery, circumstances land them in a hasty marriage of convenience to save Danna's reputation, and opposing sides begin to blur. But in a lawless wilderness, keeping the peace won't be Danna’s only challenge. The greatest threat of all may lie in opening her guarded heart.

Fantastic Writing

A very well written story - it carries you along effortlessly. You feel you are watching a movie as the story unfolds. I did not give it 5 stars because the end of the story appeared rushed. I would have given it 4.5 stars if the half mark existed. Well done to Lacy Williams. She is definitely an author to watch.

A Sweet Read

I really enjoyed this story of Miss Marshall and Chas and all the struggles they had apart and together. Each had their own hang ups from their pasts to overcome in their minds before they could each move on and commit fully to each other. Lots and lots of action typical of wild west life. Looking forward to next book.

Great read. LOVE the cover

It was a great read. I absolutely LOVE the cover! It hooked me in! I know you're not meant to judge a book by its cover, but I'm afraid I still do... I loved the independent spirit of the female protagonist, and I also loved Chas' desire to protect this strong but vulnerable lady. Loved the setting as well, because I just LOVE the Western sort of setting. The story progressed well, with touches of mystery that kept me guessing. Lots of close-calls that left be breathless!Would recommend this book!

Action packed Western Romance!

First in the Wild Wyoming Hearts series by Lacy Williams, Marrying Miss Marshal is an action packed delight of a Western romance. The story gets off to an exciting start as Marshal Danna Carpenter saves private detective Chas O'Grady from certain death - for the first time. Their attraction is immediate, but so is their mutual determination to remain distant and professional. As the very men who asked her to replace her deceased husband as Marshal seem to be setting her up to fail, Danna finds herself reluctantly working with the detective from back East, as she works to find her husband's murderer and Chas attempts to locate a gang of rustlers. As their purposes intermingle, circumstances lead to a marriage of convenience and to both of them facing the hurts of the past. While the unfolding events hold the reader's interest, it is the characters of Danna and Chas that make this story. By the time they are set to be involved with the bank robbery of the book's description, I had to put the book aside as I did not want anything to happen to them, and to Danna in particular. Danna's fortitude and determination, combined with her vulnerability, are what capture Chas's heart and the reader's, too.If you enjoy Historical Fiction set in the American West, with danger, excitement, a faith element, and a chaste romance with partners in peril and an unplanned marriage, this will tick all of those boxes. Fair warning that there are a few typos and missing words. Regardless, it may very well leave you anxious to continue the series - I know I am.
