Steven Ashton, a billionaire from New York, and Emily Grant, on the run from the law...and when they meet he can’t help falling for her. What he doesn’t know is that interfering in her life will put his own life in danger.

When billionaire Steven Ashton couldn’t stand his high society social life anymore, he left the stress of New York on a vacation for his soul. The need to meet real down to earth people led him to a small Nebraska town. He didn’t want to lie about who he was, but he couldn’t exactly tell them the truth.

Emily could have easily fallen in love with Steven, under different circumstances, but her past was catching up with her and she needed a new life. If the authorities found out about her, she could lose the one thing that meant everything, her four year old son.

cozy thriller

a cozy thriller. Some exciting moments in the book, and it certainly got me wondering as to who the killer was. I have to agree with some other reviewers that I found it a little hard to believe that the two main characters could fall so in love in such a short time with little more than sharing the odd kiss, but despite this, I did manage to believe they had deep feelings, and so the author obviously did a great job to help me in that way while keeping this as a clean, sweet romance. The ending was exciting. yes, a character does seem to disappear, but I still got swept into the story and have to say that I enjoyed reading the book. It is a clean, sweet and suspenseful novel for all ages, that ticks many boxes and I have no problem recommending it.

clean suspense.

Good clean romantic suspense suitable for all ages. I enjoyed reading this book and was keen to find out how it all played out. The plot was good overall, but I did have a few niggles regarding the strong romantic bond between the two main characters when there was very little in the way of intimacy, and how Steven did not come across as very astute on occasion considering he was an extremely rich businessman, and I did not feel that the author gave the reader much to go on in order to be able to have a fair chance at working out who the culprit was. But despite these few complaints, it was an enjoyable read. I give this 3 and a half stars.

Didnt know what to expect

Downloaded this book over a year ago when in the first excited flurry of Kindle downloading. Filed away I came across it whilst away for a few days this week - After finishing a book I throughly enjoy I always have 'problems' starting another book and if I am not grabbed within a few pages it gets sent to the archives. With Not what she seems, I was hooked from page one. Great characters - intriguing story, and although its pretty obvious that the main character was not going to be guilty of the crime I did not expect the outcome to be as it was. Glad now to be home so I can reconnect my kindle to wi-fi and I have immediately downloaded another book by Victorine E Lieske - The Overtaking

I loved this book!

I really enjoyed this book. It was a nice mix of crime & romance, although certainly not a romance as such. I liked all of the twists & turns. It was very different to other things that I've read in terms of 'genre'. It was the kind of book that I wanted to keep coming back to to read more. I would definitely recommend it - and have already! I'll be on the look out for more from this author.
