Fleeing from an abusive relationship, Meg takes his precious Mustang and runs. Afraid the police will be after her, the last thing she needs is a wanted man in her car. But when Cade McMillan saves her life and gets hurt, she can’t just leave him by the side of the road, bleeding. And waiting for the cops is out of the question.

Cade McMillan just wants to clear his name, but in order to do that he has to find the man who murdered his girlfriend and set him up. He doesn’t need to get tangled up in a relationship, and definitely doesn’t need to fall in love. But he can’t help feeling drawn to the sassy woman who saved him from getting picked up by the police.

As Cade realizes someone is trying to kill him, he must decide if staying with Meg is worth the danger he’s putting her in.

Suspense with a side of romance

I love a little suspense with my romance reads and this didn’t disappoint. I read this book about Cade and Meg in one sitting. I’m so happy that they were wrong about who had framed Cade. If you want a great suspenseful read, then grab your copy and take a little ride.

Something missing?

I’m not sure what I thought of this book. I read it, but I feel rather ambivalent about it and I can’t pinpoint why. Perhaps it is because I can’t relate to it? I would have like more descriptive details, more character development. I felt like it was too hurried. I get that they were on the run, but something was missing for me.

An enjoyable read

Saving Cade by Victorine E. LieskeThis quick read has more romance than suspense, which is a good thing in my mind. As Meg and Cade attempt to flee their pasts, they both have an opportunity to see the other at their worst – and yet that is much better than they had hoped. I felt that their relationship, attraction, and growing trust made sense and was written in an interesting way.The suspense part of the story was light-hearted which I know sounds strange but it is what it is. This author has quite a sense of humor and interjected it throughout the story, keeping it on the lighter side. The last half of the book had most of the action as the killer finds their hideaway. I did figure out the identity of the one who had set Cade up for murder long before they did but didn’t know the motivation until they discovered who it was themselves.Overall, this was an enjoyable short read that I highly recommend.Read the full review of Saving Cade by Victorine E. Because picking up an escaped felon always ends in happily ever after, right?

As a romantic suspense this book maintained its hold the whole way through. I found myself cheering for both of them and at the same time trying to figure out the mystery. It took me a couple guesses to get it right, but that is a good thing. I loved the writing style and the ability to believe them in their situation. I am not sure it could have happened that way in real life, but it is a book. It was a beautifully written escape which is the best kind of book.
