Sophia Shipley will do pretty much anything to keep her secrets secret until she’s ready to reveal them to her family. Coming back to Carolina Cove in disgrace is hard enough, but that doesn’t compare to knowing all of her hard work and career advances were for nothing. Her job in finance, her life in the financial sector, is gone due to the whispers of fraud now attached to her name. She has to start over from scratch and she has no idea where to begin…

Dawson Blackwell can’t believe his luck. He’d finally managed to buy out the awful neighbor next door and renovate the rundown cottage for a rental only to discover his childhood nemesis to be its first guest. From rivals in the classroom to enemies on the debate team and competitors for class president, he and Sophia had butted heads at every turn. But as neighbors and unlikely friends, he finds himself battling a different kind of intensity towards the grown-up version of the spoiled rich girl he’d known.

They say opposites attract but when Dawson finds himself going after the same job as Sophia, will their competitive personalities lead to a show down—or will their forbidden love lead to something else entirely?

Well written but unlikable characters

I wanted to like this book, but the characters were almost all quite unlikable, and one supposedly romantic situation was creepy to the point of being illegal. For a novel they supposedly celebrates strong women, it was disturbing enough that it put me off everyone involved in the situation, and ruined any remaining enjoyment of the book. Still, it’s well written and I did finish it.

Making the Most of a Situation

This face-paced book had me turning the pages. I enjoyed the cast of characters and plot. I highly recommend this book as an easy read.

Clean and captivating

I too enjoyed this story about characters who were three dimentionally drawn. Sofia, her sister and her seemingly on-going competition, Dawson. Secrets, questions, emotional pain all kept the reader a bit tense but riveted. Karla B.

Sea View and Something New

This was a good book in the Carolina Cove series. This covered the lives of Allie and Brooks plus Sophia and Dawson. Allie and Sophia are sisters and Brooks and Dawson are brothers. Allie and Brooks be busy with four kids under five. Sophia and Dawson who have known each other all their lives finally discover their love for each other and get married. Plus they are going to collaborate on a business venture with Barbara Lancaster. They will do great things in building Barbara's legacy. Nice to place all the characters with their parents and siblings. Enjoy the help offered by the Boardwalk Babes!

Entertaining friends becoming lovers

Predictable but very interesting. The story held my interest from start to finish. Two people who loved each other early in life but only realized it a few years later.
