Hopeless & Heaven

When I read the previous book, I was excited that Jill and Vince would be getting their own book, and it was going to be the next one. I love how Vince is still standing by Jill and is there for her considering that she ran right after they got married, but she had a good reason. It was fun seeing Vince out of his element in Harmony Valley, but he acclimated pretty quickly thanks to Sam and especially Teddy who you would tell wanted to be there for his father and they bonded pretty quickly. As we read this story, we find out that both Jill and Vince have painful pasts, it’s no wonder Vince was drawn to her in high school, kindred souls. I’m concerned for Glamma and her forgetfulness and I’m also worried about Jill because I know she wants to be with Vince and he’s all in other than trying to figure out where to land especially when his grandfather needs him and Jill, because of what happened to her in the past, doesn’t feel like she can be a wife to Vince. With Jill voicing her concerns about feeling she couldn’t be everything for Vince that a wife should be, broke my heart. When Vince got the call about his grandfather and had to leave, I knew this would be a make it or break it moment for Jill. Love how at the end of the book Jill has her power back, walked in, and took control of the situation with Vince, like a boss. At that point, I knew whatever happened next, these two would make it. LOVED the ending with Jill’s surprises and I’m beyond thrilled for all of them. Wonder what is happening next in Harmony Valley.

Vince Two and Jill

Jill and Vince wed to protect her unborn child from her assailant's family. He loved her then and loves her still, but she's scared to reach for more than their marriage of convenience. She will set him free, to live the life he deserves, after using him as a bastion of support for so many years. The problem is that she and their son Teddy are all he desires. How can he convince her to let them be a real family? And with the Salazars still sniffing around, he will never sign those papers.Another wonderfully heartfelt addition to the HV series. Vince Two (courtesy of the beloved town elders) is a great guy, stepping up for his wayward family even against Jill's wishes. He had me at peanut butter cups. Jill is wounded but not broken, tempted by his sweet kisses and strong shoulder. Teddy is a great kid, taking to his newfound dad and great-grumpy Aldo without hesitation. It warmed my heart when he protected his mom from harassment, a glimpse of the man he will become. Glamma Gloria has a heart-to-heart with her Golden Girls as she realizes she is declining, Granny Rose putting paid to the notion that medication is not useless for her condition. And Sammy gets regular hugs from little Maddy without being overwhelmed. Cameos from other beloved town members let us know they are thriving and happy. A community like no other, HV is a great place to call home.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Hilarity and Familiar Characters Make This a Fun Read

In this story set in one of my favorite little towns, we find Jill happily living her life as a single mom with her small son in Harmony Valley. Vince, a good friend of hers from Vegas, who agreed to a marriage of convenience so that Teddy could be “legitimate” decides to come to Harmony Valley to pursue a real relationship and marriage. The quirky townsfolk chime in on what they think Jill should do, and the resulting story is a fun mixture of hilarity and drama. I enjoyed seeing beloved characters from the series again, but the focus being on Jill and Vince was engaging as the two of them get to know each other better and to find out whether they can make a real family work. The story was fun to read and told at a quick pace, but I did find it somewhat unbelievable that Vince would leave a prosperous gambling career in Vegas and suddenly decide to make Harmony Valley his new headquarters. The characters were realistic and likable and the story was told with tongue-in-cheek humor and a lot of interference from well meaning residents of Harmony Valley. The fast pace of the story kept me engaged and even though the ending was predictable, it was a very entertaining to get there!DisclaimerDisclosure of Material Connection: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author via BookFunnel.
