A Victorian countess doesn't belong on a ranch, and a frosty cowboy knows nothing about raising a family. When the two have no choice but to rely on each other, is there any hope for happiness, let alone true love?

Lady Evelyn Lyon lost her husband and her fortune on the same day. Daughter in hand, she makes her way to the copper mines of Arizona, hoping her husband's stock in the Bisbee Copper Queen mine will make it possible for her to raise her little girl. Every man she's known has failed her, and she would far rather be alone than dependent on one. When the stock certificates in her possession prove fraudulent, Evelyn and her little girl are more alone than ever.

Chris Morgan, known as "Frosty" by cowhands and neighbors alike, never expected to have a family. When his cousin back east dies and leaves Chris with two children to raise, Chris has no choice but to change his plans. But raising children and running a ranch at the same time is a tall order. He's at his wit's end when he comes across a British noblewoman who has no business wandering around the desert without protection. When he learns her story, Chris knows they might be the solutions to each other's problems.

A hasty wedding and dusty ride to Chris's ranch starts their marriage of convenience off on a bumpy road. With children to raise and cattle to herd, Evelyn and Chris have no choice but to trust each other. But in the west, trust is hard won, and it's hard to grow anything...especially love.

Copper for the Countess is Book 2 in the Hearts of Arizona Series, but it can be enjoyed as a stand-alone romance.

What marriage is all about.

This couple is growing into a good marriage "backwards"and models what a good relationship is all about. An arrangement of convenience becomes a blessing for many lives.

Clean romance

I have enjoyed this second book in the series! This stand alone book is well written but oh! Do yourself a favor and read the first book as well.

The characters are very lovable and strong in difficult situations.

The description of the area is so real ( and I have been in the area) that the reader knows what it is like.

I recommend this book and this author and can not wait for book three!

Favorite so far

I loved the first of this series but I love this one even more. Britton is a master at making the page jump with well-written characters and dialogue. I love Evelyn’s gentle strength and determination. And Frosty? OMGoodness…what an amazing man! His gentleness and kindness would make any woman fall in love with him. I will gladly reach for the next one in this series but will be sad to see it come to an end. This series could easily continue for me. ❤️❤️

I could not stop reading..

My best friend once started writing a story when we were teenagers and she never finished it. I told her recently that I always loved that story even though she never thought it was good because I really enjoyed the world she created and I wished she would finish it because I wanted to visit that world again.
Copper for the Countess is similar, in that I love the world that Sally Brittain has created and I just want to spend time in it. I loved the characters of Frosty and Evelyn. I appreciated how they related to the children and worked to make sure they all felt loved and like a natural family. I enjoyed reading about the desert landscapes. I just want to visit that world over and over again.

Love the Characters

What a delightful story!

I loved the characters; the two main, the children, the neighbors.

I really appreciated the steady growth (from acquaintance, to friendship, finally to more) between the MCs. It felt like a real life romance with healthy communication and grace, I’m completely satisfied with their relationship.

The setting of the book is in a place that I have no personal attachment to, or draw to, but the author made the location feel real and uniquely attractive. (Although, snakes…I hate them so I don’t plan to ever move there.)

Overall, really enjoyed this book and am eager for the final book in the trilogy. Another win for this author.

Clean Romance: Nothing more than mild kissing, although previous marriages are mentioned for some characters and not all is happy.

Violence: There is at least one fight, but it’s not gruesome, I’d say fine for any age to read.

Profanity: None, no curse words or offensive language.

Second book in the series but each book is readable as a standalone story with connecting side characters.
HEA for the main characters in each book.
