She’s an IRS agent. He’s a rancher. Love was not on the agenda.

Sean Petty is ready to quit all of his odd jobs and finally take over his grandfather’s ranch. He wasn’t born to be a lawyer—despite what his parents say.

Christine Jordan is moments away from getting fired as an IRS agent. Her boss told her to either succeed at the field audit or don’t bother coming back. When she shows up at Sean Petty’s ranch and he’s as stubborn as a mule, she knows she can’t let his rugged good looks or surprisingly caring manner distract her.

Feelings emerge and just when they discover they may be wrong about each other, facts come to light and Christine’s boss interferes. Now they must decide if the moments they’ve had can triumph over the truth.

If you love rugged cowboys and quick-as-a-whip females, you’ll love this sweet romance.

A sweet Western romance

In this sweet, clean romance, Sean is excited with the anticipation of being able to take over and own his grandfather's ranch. He is fully aware of his father's disapproval who would prefer him taking up law and joining him in “the real world”. Everything Sean wants is on the ranch and he is fighting for the right to protect and keep it safe. When a notification comes out of the blue that the IRS is sending an auditor to investigate the books of the Petty ranch, he is thrown a curved ball. The “dragon” auditor is nothing like he expected and when Christine steps into the mix, Sean realises that he is in more trouble than he first suspected. As the main character, one could feel Sean's pain that everything he is working for could possibly be taken from him. He is fighting his attraction to Christine, especially when she surprises him on a number of levels. Christine has had her own share of heartache, and with her job under threat she knows that she has to do a thorough job at the ranch or face being axed. As she gets sucked into the daily affairs of the ranch, she realises that there is more to the unpaid taxes than she at first realised and she begins to understand Sean's passion for his home. I enjoyed the build up of romance in this story, as well as the interaction between the characters. There was some humour, but mostly the book touched me as the realities of life began to surface. Although this book is part of a series, it is nevertheless a standalone. It was, however, enjoyable meeting up with the characters from the first book of the series and seeing their progress. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Short but sweet

She's an IRS accountant sent to audit his grandfather's ranch. He's hoping to take it over soon. The sparks fly, but so does the doubt. Recommend.

Sean and Christine both are spitfires and yet compassion shows for others. How to save and protect the ranch when he hears it is being audited. When Christine shows up to look at the books with her boss saying to do it, or forget you have a job.obstacles to resolve for love to come.Cute story.
