Fans of Robyn Carr’s Virgin River series will love this small-town, feel-good romance!

Kelly Harris is determined to make her antiques business a success. She won't let Tanner, a bodyguard who likes first edition poetry books, interfere with her life. But winning a mystery box at an auction changes everything. With Tanner working alongside her, they decipher the code in a forgotten journal, uncovering a young girl's journey to freedom and a powerful family's secret.

Tanner works for a high-profile security company. He's seen the worst that humanity can do and doesn't believe in love. But, when disaster strikes, he does everything he can to keep Kelly safe—even if that means letting her into the most vulnerable part of who he is.

Just Breathe is the second book in The Protectors series and can easily be read as a standalone. All of my series are linked, so if you meet a character you like, you could find them in another book. Okay for a One Time Read

I was really expecting more from this book. From the description it sounded like there were going to be some intense scenes and action. There was a little action, SPOILER [someone breaks into Kelly’s store, and later her store catches on fire but neither one proved to be anything dangerous] END SPOILER but most was pretty normal. The only reason I kept reading was because of the mystery of the old journal that was found. I wanted to know about it and the painting and what would happen to them.

Tanner was a likable enough guy. At least until near the end. Then he acted like a spoiled kid, assumed something and then stomped away without talking anything over. And it was supposedly all because he’d had a hard childhood. It just didn’t seem to fit and made me roll my eyes.

Kelly was sweet. She discovered an old journal written in code and it was fun watching her work to find out the mystery. Her brothers were a little much. Yes, brothers can and maybe should be protective of their little sisters, but this went beyond normal.

The romance in this story was pretty clean. There were some kisses, a few hints about not getting physical, but the kisses weren’t too detailed. Kelly did go stay for a week or more at Tanner’s house when she couldn’t stay at her apartment, but one of her brothers stayed there too. Even so, it was a little awkward.

This was not a Christian book. There were a few mentions of a church and the pastor. And a couple mentions of the youth group, but that’s about it. But it was clean as far as language goes which I appreciated.

While it wasn’t bad, I won’t be reading it again just because it wasn’t that interesting to me, and I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it.

Different from other romance novels but really a good thing.

You get the drift right off that Tanner and Kelly will most likely find each other but the roundabout way they do it is such a good thing that it keeps you in the middle of everything. History buffs will enjoy the different finds that the two start working on from the beginning. Trying to decode things, tracing a paintings source, theft attempts, political nuances, underground railroad references, I mean it goes all through the processes finding information. At the same time the story tells you in a slow, methodical way, that Tanner and Kelly will find their way into each others hearts. This was such an enjoyable read, I'll read it a second time for sure. Will recommend it to everyone.

Freedom

Leanne Morgan continues to bring new characters and old friends back together. This is a sweet love story taking place again in Bozeman, Montana. The story revolves around two main characters that love going to estate sales and usually bidding against each other. This passion for auctions eventually leads to a love between the two. It also tells a side story of a young slave from the 1860's managing to get free and end up working in the Underground movement. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

This story is a MUST READ!!!

I loved every single moment of this story. The mystery of unraveling the secret codes of the diary written over a hundred + years ago by a young mysterious slave child, had me glued to this story. Tanner and Kelly worked together to try to solve this mystery, but will it cost them their lives in the process? Will it bring these two closer in the process? Or will the threats they recieve from a very powerful politician who wants the story buried, be their downfall?

I would have given this story a 10 star rating, if it were allowed. That's just how much I loved this story. I loved all of the characters, and thought they were all very believable, and very likable.

The story was well written, grammatically speaking. I gave it a 3 star bc I don’t like stories that have so many characters in them that I can’t remember who is married to whom or if they are important to the story. The other thing authors do to increase the length of the book is to summarize events. I enjoyed the story but couldn’t really find much romance. It seemed more inspirational.
