Love is a numbers game… Kay Hangler has a mind for numbers and a passion for the matchmaking app she helped to create. This Fourth of July weekend, her company is hosting a singles event at the historic Hazel Oaks Resort. Fun, sun, and romance are on the schedule for dozens of potential couples while Kay stubbornly flies solo…again. While she trusts her algorithm, she hasn’t personally tried it—until the resort’s handsome and friendly sailing instructor dares her to put it to the test. Finn Stark was born on the water and comes from a long line of sailors. While he enjoys his summer gig teaching sailing at the resort and restoring boats, he’s longing to meet someone special. When a pretty brunette wanders into his boathouse and promises she can find his perfect match using numbers, Finn’s skeptical. Finn doesn’t believe true love can be calculated, but Kay’s built her entire career on this belief. Will their numbers add up to a future before the Fourth of July fireworks, or is their romance destined to fizzle out?

Love at First Spark

I received this arc of Love at First Spark from Tule Publishing in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book in the Hazel Oak Resort series by Sarah Fischer and Kelsey McKnight. I’ve enjoyed this series so far. The characters are very likable and the plot was original and cute. We see the people we met in the first book, Hudson, Nat and Terry and that is always a good welcome back for the reader.

Book two features Finn Stark, who we met in book one. He has his own business and home right by the Hazel Oak Resort. He works with the resort as an activities staff consultant teaching sailing and also works on restoring his boats. In book two we meet Kay Hangler who is CFO for her company that has devised an app for matching up couples. She and her staff contracted with the resort to hold a two week event where multiple couples get paired up and spend time together in activities to build up their relationship.

Kay and Finn meet and recognize they have some chemistry. He is all for pursuing the relationship the old fashioned way. Kay feels it is only right to use her app to find the perfect match. She doesn’t feel she can fairly take the test on the app to find her mate as she is the one who developed it. She agrees to spending time with Finn. He realizes that the app is very important to her and he has second thoughts about using it to prove he and Kay have what it takes to have a forever relationship.

There is a lot of angst over what’s going to happen with Finn and Kay. She seems to let the app run her life and Finn isn’t really a believer in it. He also has a life in the small town where resort is and she lives in the big city. I enjoyed the interactions between the characters and the story a lot. I look forward to another book in this fun series by Sarah and Kelsey. I highly recommend this book and give it 5 stars.

Love at First Spark (Hazel Oaks Resort Book 2)

Short, sweet and so enjoyable. A small town romance you can't help but get swept up in. The characters are engaging, easy to get to know and you can't help but enjoy their journey to HEA.

Finding love with an app or the old fashioned way.....

Kay has developed an app to match people with their perfect match. Finn wants to meet someone the old fashioned way and fall in love. He doesn't believe an app can do that. When Kay gets lost and wanders her way to Finn's neck of the woods they share a spark. Finn wants them to take the quiz on her app and find out if they are a match just to prove to her that they have a chance to be happy. Kay doesn't think love is in the cards for her. When they finally take the quiz what will the numbers say? Good read.

Love at First Spark

Kay Hangler has designed a very successful app for matchmaking. Now she is sponsoring a singles event at Hazel Oaks Resort for potential couples. She is a city girl so was dreading going to the mountains but when she arrived; she was pleased with the resort. She had total faith and believed in her app but never used it herself. As she was early and had everything done, she decided to take a walk in which she got lost and ran into Finn Stark. He loved the water and is refurbishing his dream boat and can’t wait to get it in the water. When he saw her, he wanted to get to know her and spend more time with her as he enjoyed the little time they had together. As they grew closer, he finally agreed for them to take the quiz on her app to see if they were compatible. There are many things that filter into their past lives to also show hesitation on her part.

A Sweet Story of Opposites Finding Love Together

Love at First Spark by Sarah Fischer and Kelsey McKnight, book two in the Hazel Oaks Resorts series, was a wonderful, sweet, enjoyable tale of two people who are opposites yet are still able to connect. Kay Hangler has high hopes for her matchmaking app’s two week singles event at Hazel Oaks Resort for potential couples. The app is her life’s work and great results would be awesome. At the resort she meets Finn Stark who believes in the natural course, old fashion way of finding love, not from an app. Her analytic mind cannot digest Finn’s ideas about love. Spending time together and getting to know one another there is no denial of the magnetic attraction and chemistry they share. Theirs is a story of finding love naturally vs. numbers and coding.

Ms. Fischer and Ms. McKnight wrote a wonderful filled with sizzling chemistry, magnetism, clever banter, and endearing characters giving Kay and Finn a chance at love and an unexpected future together. I highly recommend Love at First Spark to other readers and look forward to the next book in this series.
