He’s her best friend, her closest confidant—and the one man she can never have.

Mia Chadwick has spent years convincing everyone, including Ben—her best friend and life-long neighbor—that she’s perfectly content to remain unmarried. But secretly, she’s loved him for as long as she can remember. Hosting a house party was the last thing she wanted to do. And it only gets worse once the guests arrive. When one of Ben’s friends sets his sights on her, Mia finds herself caught in a whirlwind of flirtation, jealousy, and long-buried feelings she’s desperate to hide.

He’s about to lose the one thing he never realized he wanted.

Benjamin Cavendish, the Marquess of Berwick-on-Tweed, knows Mia better than anyone. He’s questioned her declaration that she would never marry but never her place at his side as her best friend. When his charming friend, Cort, seems determined to win Mia’s favor, Ben is forced to confront the truth: he doesn’t want Mia to end up with anyone but him. Suddenly, their friendship is unpredictable, and Ben realizes he might be too late to claim the woman he’s loved all along.

As tensions rise and feelings simmer during two weeks of games, intrigue, and stolen moments, Ben and Mia must decide whether risking their friendship is worth a chance at happiness. But with misunderstandings piling up and the end of the house party drawing near, they’ll have to summon their courage—or risk losing each other for good.

Dullest house party ever

Slow moving..... Wish the heroine had more gumption in her. Nothing exactly happens in this house party... Even the antagonist wasn't really evil.

Fun and entertaining

I am a sucker for clean romances, and this one did not disappoint! This is the third book in the series and I recommend reading the first two prior to reading Matchmaking the Marquess. All of the books in the series are satisfying reads. I am anxiously awaiting the stories for the remaining gentlemen in this series.

Slow moving at first, but then a good story

I liked the premise and Ben is a great character. Enjoyed him and wanted him to be happy. Mia bordered on cranky but it was good to see her pushing through her negativity. My one complaint is that the plot felt like it dragged for the first 1/3 of the book with just a lot of talking and little “action”- I had to force myself to stay engaged with the reading for a while.

A good story

This story has its own agenda and is set in Regency time with the social constraints of the time. This story has a lot of wit and stimulating thinking. I recommend it to you.

clean romance

If you are looking for a delightful book/series/author this is a great place to start. This third book in the series is a standalone but I highly recommend reading each in order as it gives each of the characters a chance to shine as well as develop within their own story.I enjoyed the banter and the interaction between the heroine and heroine. Friends to lovers…slowly…I can’t wait for the next member of the League to receive his story!
