A Fun Vacation Read

This first book in the "Love On Vacation" series took me to a delightful ski lodge populated by a bunch of interesting characters. Gilbert makes both the lovable and un-likeable ones really live. Though a fun, light read, this story is still thought-provoking.

Borrows too heavily from Titanic

The author wrote interesting characters, and a sweet story of having the courage to forge your own path.My only concern was the ongoing similarities to the movie Titanic. A fatherless girl is engaged to a rich tycoon, and is pressured by her mother to go through with the wedding for financial reasons. She meets a drifter from a lower class and steals away with him for various adventures. At one point, the guy who has stolen her heart is invited to a fancy dinner with all of the upper class, and makes a speech about having all he needs that is almost word-for-word like the speech Jack Dawson makes at the fancy dinner in Titanic (I even googled it to compare the two speeches). While I didn't mind the plot similarities, I was disappointed by the speech, as it seemed almost like plagiarism.
