She’s got a fast-paced career in the city. He’s got roots buried deep in ranchland soil. When their worlds collide, will love be enough to bridge the distance between them?

Kate has built a life in New York City that many dream of—corporate success, designer heels, and just enough time for the occasional coffee break. But when an unexpected twist in her personal life sends her reeling, she escapes to the last place she ever thought she’d go: the wide-open skies and rolling hills of western ranch country. It’s supposed to be temporary—just long enough to catch her breath.

Dylan knows cattle, hard work, and the quiet rhythm of life on the family ranch. Alongside his brothers, he’s spent years keeping the place running, finding peace in the familiar and fulfillment in his faith. The last thing he’s looking for is a big-city woman with no clue how to handle mud, fences, or the truth that ranch life demands everything you’ve got.

But when Dylan and Kate cross paths, sparks fly—and not the good kind. She's stubborn and a little lost. He's steady but wounded from a past that still lingers. As they’re thrown together in the everyday chaos of ranch life, attraction grows into something deeper… something that just might change everything.

Can two hearts from completely different worlds find a way to build a future together? Or will fear, distance, and old wounds keep them apart?

A sweet, heartfelt romance about finding God’s purpose in unexpected places, the beauty of second chances, and a love that’s worth holding onto. Perfect for fans of clean cowboy romance, family sagas, and stories of faith, healing, and hope.

Editorial Reviews

"This was a sweet, clean Christian romance full of swoon-worthy cowboys. I loved Dylan and Kate and their love story was so tender. I can't wait for more about the Dawson family." Jones Family

"I haven't been into reading sweet romance as much lately, but really trust Sophia Summers to deliver, so I picked hers up from my library bag collection with the weekend intention to give it a go. I was so satisfied by the end! The characters are warm and rich and the dialogue really works. I love the setting of the Dawson Ranch and how down-to-earth the family is. Mama Dawson is a favorite. I love gaining appreciation for perspectives that differ from my own and seeing diversity. This story added to the depth and beauty of my life. I look forward to the next!" AnnaMae Wilson

"What a great read! I love that it's a Christian romance. Dylan and Kate have great chemistry and friendship. I like how they don't rush into anything. I really enjoyed seeing a glimpse of Maverick and Bailey. Can't wait for Decker and Nash's books." Heather H

Great story

I really enjoyed this book. The spiritual parts were spot on and beautiful.Dylan and Kate had a lot to overcome but did it for a HEA. I look forward to Deckers story. I only have one negative, the cover is not good. I cannot imagine Dylan in that sweater!!

Thank you Sophie Summers

Oh, so refreshing to read a good, hold your attention book, without having to skip pages of stuff that I don’t want to read.

Sweet love story with a few issues

Okay, it was a good story, but the cover does not show a cowboy...a cardigan & tee shirt?? I can’t imagine any of my cowboy friends wearing that. I liked the faith aspect & was pulling for Dylan & Kate. It all worked out as well as it could for now, trusting God for the future. They really liked each other & weren’t afraid to show it most of the time, despite the awkward situations that arose. Mama Dawson is a good mama at keeping her family together & at giving advice. I liked the family aspect. The small town setting was only referred to briefly, while New York was described extensively. I couldn’t tell what state Willow Creek was in until pretty far into the book. Since I haven’t read Maverick’s story, I guess I was a little behind. I hope that reading the books in order might be helpful for new readers of this series.A few things annoyed me. Pine trees & shale near San Antonio? The rodeoing references were a little off and some other small things felt a little less than authentic to me. Clean & sweet with passionate kisses.3 1/2 stars minus 1/2 star for proofreading issues = 3 stars

A contemporary Christian Cowboy romance.

I love this series of books about the Dawson brothers. In this novel, Dylan goes to New York City hoping to reconnect with his longtime girlfriend Shelby. However, Shelby is happy with her life in the Big Apple and likes knowing that Dylan is always waiting in the wings for her. She convinces her roommate Kate to show him around the city while Shelby goes out with her steady New York boyfriend. As Dylan and Kate spend time together, they discover a kindred soul in each other. Shelby, always manipulative and self-centered, pulls out all stops when Dylan becomes interested in Kate.As a reader, I like a book to hold surprises. In this case, the plot was predictable on the way to Dylan's and Kate's HEA ending. Yet in spite of its predictability, I really liked Kate more than Dylan, who seemed blind to Shelby's real character. I wanted to scream at Dylan and say, "WAKE UP AND SMELL THE MANURE!" LOLIn spite of this, Dylan finally sees the truth and redeems himself in my eyes. This book is well-written and delivers a happy ever after for these 2 characters, surrounded by the Dawson family members. 4 stars.
