What is Christmas without some healthy competition? When successful Chicago sports journalist Dawson McLeod and botanist Piper Davis receive a mysterious summons to an attorney’s office, they learn they are the potential benefactors to a famous and reclusive author’s historic estate—including her mansion, famous gardens, greenhouses, and more. Neither of them has had any contact with the author of their favorite Christmas book since they were both scheduled to interview her as children. But only Piper, who arrived early, succeeded, much to Dawson’s envy. Both Piper and Dawson have ideas for how they plan to benefit the community with their potential winnings, but the legacy has strings. The author has left them a series of clues to be solved around the city starting twenty days before Christmas. Once childhood rivals and now strangers, Dawson and Piper must work together to uncover the clues by Christmas if they want either of their dreams to come true. Will working together during the most magical time of year open their hearts, or will their lingering feud get in the way?

Great Read!

What a wonderfully written story. I loved Piper and Dawson. I loved that they were both given a second chance. This book was a very entertaining read. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Wonderful Story

Such an absolutely fun and delightful novel. The story is so engaging with a deceased, reclusive novelist creating a set of clues much like in her beloved Christmas story. She couples two people who, when age nine, were to interview her. The girl, Piper, did interview her. The boy, Dawson, missed his chance. Mischievous author, Margaret, set it all up with a definite purpose. It is up to Piper and Dawson to figure it all out.I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A fun Christmas story

Twenty-six years ago, when Piper and Dawson were just kids, they both planned to interview Margaret Smith, a famous children’s author. Only, Piper got to Margaret’s house ahead of Dawson and she did the interview on her own. Dawson never forgave Piper for stealing the interview away from him. Piper and Dawson are reunited when they are both named in Margaret’s will. They have been given the task of solving some clues before they can receive their inheritance. But there is more to it than just an inheritance; a little mischief has been thrown into the mix as well. And it is all in the name of love. This is the kind of book where the characters are easy to love. I only wanted the best for them. As they searched for answers to the clues they were given, the locations that they went to were easy to visualize through the author’s words. I was drawn into the story from the start and had a hard time putting it down. It is the perfect Christmas story.

Fun Christmas Romance Read

The Christmas Clues (Christmas Wishes Book 5) by Scarlet Wilson is a childhood enemies to grown-up love story. Chicago sports journalist Dawson McLeod and botanist Piper Davis meet for only one event when they were children. It did not exactly go as planned but a children’s writer remembered them both fondly anyway. Now years later they are to inherit land from the author but first must solve a series of clues. Having to work together is part of the inheritance requirement which gives a chance to truly get to know each other as adults. What an enjoyable book reminding me of a middle grade book I read as a child with the clues. Both characters are likable in spite of their opinion of each other. It was great seeing how their first impression as children changed over the course of the story. While there is some minor confusion near the completion of the clue solving it is not highly dramatic. Instead it is a sweet heartwarming romance. Reading it was a pleasure, I only wish the story’s childhood book was real. I would like to read that one too.4.5 StarsAn ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

An extremely fun read!

I recently read The Christmas Clues by Scarlet Wilson. This is book #5 in her standalone series Christmas Wishes. The story follows botanist Piper Davis and sports reporter Dawson McLeod, two young Chicagoans whose paths crossed once when as children they met reclusive author Margaret Smith. Twenty plus years have passed but they find themselves together once again, summoned to the offices of the late Margaret Smith’s attorney. They are informed that they jointly will inherit the author’s massive land and greenhouses near her residence… if they can solve a series of riddles. As children they both lacked empathy for the other. Now they are pushed to work together. And so it begins… clue #1. Piper needs the greenhouses to build her business. Dawson would like to build athletic facilities on the adjacent land for local youth. They struggle and manage to solve many clues. They are also educated on the real story of Margaret Smith’s life, and the immense contributions that she made to many people and charities. They also realize that Margaret Smith is using her inheritance to play matchmaker for them. Will Margaret Smith light the fire of love between Piper and Dawson? Do they both love the other? Or is it just the desire by each for their portion of the inheritance? The Christmas Clues was an incredibly fun story to read! The storyline was very original! I enjoyed the story very much! My rating: 5 STARS!
