Editorial Reviews

"I have read several of Ms. Dallen's works and I have enjoyed them all. HOWEVER, this is my favorite so far. Both main characters were delightful and played off each other well." - Amazon Reviewer

Charming Adventure

A thoroughly enjoyable, entertaining, and delightful tale of romance, adventure, life-threatening shenanigans. There are too many grimace-inducing Americanisms, a few errors; just who is Rufus?Prudence is annoying and in need of more compassion and less of her beloved pragmatism.Very much worth reading though.

Another excellent book

In the beginning is difficult to like Delilah, but understanding her family history we can see where she comes from. Mr. Calloway is very interesting too. Maggie Dallen has the gift of describing the society at the time allowing us to understand the characters motivations and cheering on them.

Never judge a book by its cover

This book teaches the old lesson that the wolf is in sheep's clothes and that you should never judge a book by its cover. The female lead seems snobbish, but she is also just pretending. I enjoyed this plot, the mystery, and the adventure—well done, author.
