When the past and present collide, there are always consequences...

Aurelia Beswick’s life hangs by a thread. Penniless and alone, she grasps at her last hope: a position as a governess far from London. Little does she know that fate has a cruel twist in store. Her new employer is none other than Lord Ryland—a man from her past she never expected to see again. Luckily, he doesn’t seem to remember her.

Determined to keep her position, Aurelia finds herself walking a precarious line, keeping her identity a secret while every interaction with Lord Ryland seems to draw them closer together.

At the heart of this delicate balance is Lord Ryland’s son, a sweet boy who brings Aurelia and Lord Ryland together with their mutual love for him. But as bonds strengthen and walls crumble, Aurelia must face an impossible choice: continue her charade or risk losing everything she’s fought so hard to gain.

Book two in the Hearts of Harewood series, A Proper Governess is a sweet and clean Regency romance that proves that even in the most proper of societies, the heart cannot be governed.

An adorable little boy brings together two hearts. Romantic, sweet, inspirational and clean.

I really enjoyed this story of a lady whose fallen fortunes force her into accepting a position as a governess where she encounters a Lord from her past, although he does not remember her initially, nor does he remember receiving her letter of application (because she hasn’t sent one) perhaps with time spent together accompanied and chaperoned by his ever so adorable little boy, just maybe he will see her for more than just the governess.

Good story

It was a sweet and lovely read. Low angst, not much drama. I was expecting steam when I locked it up but it's a clean one.The clean readers can pick it up for the wonderful writing style.

A feel-good book, minimal angst

This was a nice, clean, happy read. There were some obstacles, of course, but they didn’t drag them out. I’m looking forward to Ruth’s story.

Oh the layers…Prepare to fall in love!

I love a good regency romance where the man falls in love with the governess. It seems only natural. There were so many good plot layers woven together. They were seamless in their execution! I loved this story and thought the characters were fantastic and the story line so good. Stockton did another amazing read as the skillfully wove the love story with the intrigue and deception. I can’t wait to read all about the rules of Ruth.
