Strange Characters & Plot

This is the story of Rowan Law, who has his future laid out for him by his father, a demanding earl. How Rowan ends up stranded in Brighton and taken in by the vicar’s family is unrealistic and far fetched. The sense of ease and redemption he experiences while residing with this unpretentious household verges on the saccharine. The vicar’s ward, the lovely Isabella Montgomery, of course falls in love with Rowan, and there is the classic “will-he-won’t-he” stuff that goes on for half of the book. The end is as incredible (as in non-credible) as the rest of the book. And there were numerous grammatical errors. In short, this book merits 3 stars at best.

Lovely short novel

Second son inherits title on brother’s accidental death. He doesn’t want the title, nor his father hardly waiting til the funeral is over to start training him for his new position. Orphaned girl, living with vicar and wife, is a budding artist, but not of the same social class as an earl’s heir. Mss Hatch handles this much used story line with finesse and some twists that make the story fresh. Well worth the read.
