The last thing Hannah Palmer wants to do is flirt with men in a crowded ballroom, but when her sister, the Countess of Tarrington, throws a Masquerade Ball, Hannah can’t say no to the invitation. Taking comfort behind her disguise, she dances with a charming masked gentleman, matching him wit for wit. When the glorious evening culminates in a kiss, and the two remove their masks, Hannah is horrified to discover the man she’s been flirting with all night is her most despised neighbor, the Duke of Suttenberg. No matter how charming the duke was at the ball, and how wonderful the kiss, he is the last man she could ever love.

Dance with a duke, outwit pirates, save a kingdom, and fall in love. Believe in happily ever after.

Thoroughly Satisfying!

What a fun and romantic regency novel! It's a wonderful adventure beginning with a revealing masquerade ball that allowed the perfect duke to shed his public persona and find an unlikely woman to expose and love the real man hidden underneath the title. Clean and heart gripping romance!

A very nice romance

This is a story of two people with problems, one the expectations of a duke and the other with migraine and shyness, who find they can be their true selves when wearing masks at a masquerade. It travels along nicely and gives us the happy ending we all love.

Short and sweet. A good novella, but not a fleshed out full novel.

This is the length of a novella. Its short, its sweet, its a romance without any added story line.I thought the beginning was a little stiff. Reading a scene, I was seeing it in my head as a dry stage play, characters walking through the lines. It loosens up a little. There's nothing wrong with it, but there's nothing overly creative either. He H is a stiff Duke, overly groomed to his role and fear of being less then perfect. The h is a very sweet girl considered delicate, who turns out to have a remarkable ability to read people. I almost thought the writer used that as an excuse to call her adequate to marry a Duke. But basically once they got past all the phony nonsense they had to live with, they just clicked, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Donna Hatch is one of the better writers of clean romance

I love all her books. I love all the characters. I love the settings of each story. Other authors fall short of Donna Hatch’s talent

Darling!

I couldn’t put this one down! I love that it was a quick clean read and let the reader see further into the lives of Alicia and Cole while telling Hannah’s story. Hannah Palmer, Alicia’s you get sister, is terribly shy yetobservant, intelligent, and kind. She has a chance to overcome her shyness at a masquerade ball on her birthday. She dresses as Aphrodite and takes on her persona - completely coming out of her shell in the presence of a musketeer. They are very attracted to each other and their night ends with a kiss, but when Hannah realizes that is the arrogant Duke of Suttenberg that has kissed her, she is outraged and embarrassed. The Duke is enraptured and embarrassed by his behavior, but he cannot get Hannah out of his mind. Their relationship would never work because someone so shy could never make a proper duchess and they both realize this, but the heart doesn’t always agree with the head.
