He’s after her heart—and her money. He’ll have to fight her for his dignity first.

Sebastian Drake is in dire need of a fortune. With limited time and a dearth of wealthy relatives to will him such a thing, he is left with only one option: marry money. Happily, London is full of eligible heiresses, but it is the newest arrival in Town who catches his eye.

Selina Lawrence is only just rid of one husband—the last thing she wants is to acquire another. When she finds herself the target of the charming Mr. Drake, a suspected fortune hunter, what is she to do but teach the man a valuable lesson?

However, both Sebastian’s attempts to woo Selina and her efforts to humble him backfire in unexpected ways, leaving them entangled in a battle of wits and hearts.

Wit, banter and romance. Very Heyeresque!

A lovely witty and clever romantic read.Such well rounded characters and delectable banter between the main characters.Add an eclectic group of family, friends, children and animals and this is very much a story Georgette Heyer herself would love.

True love takes time

Enchanting period piece with all the best components. Unfortunate incidences, tug at your heart back and forth unacknowledged love, a villain, adorable children and pets and just enough mayhem to keep it interesting.

Absolultely adorable Regency

Okay, Martha Keyes, I see what you did here. This book was SO stinkin' cute. I absolutely loved Sebastian and Selina and was 100% engaged in this story from the very start. With a little bit of "How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days" vibes, this was romcom Regency, with fabulous historical vibes, and a lot of heart. I like that it felt unique, even with those vibes, it wasn't a retelling, but felt fresh and original.Sebastian needs to marry for money, but his fortune hunting is not what it seems and honestly, I love how noble his character truly was. Selina wants to be loved for herself, not for what she can offer. Her and Sebastian have obvious chemistry when they meet, but I love how she put him to the test and the way their romance played out. With a mischievous monkey, supportive and lovable side characters, and a lot of laughs, this book was an easy five stars for me. I laughed out loud, I cheered for the hero, and I grinned so much at that ending. This book had great wit and the swoon was “ooo la la” good. The kisses alone were yummy. I highly recommend it.

Delightful!!!

I LOVED this one!!! It was delightfully witty and swoony! An enemies to more story, kind of a mistaken identity as well. Sebastian and Selina are locked in a battle of wits and pranks, without fully knowing or understanding the other. All the while their pranks are happening, the chemistry is sparking and burning bright!I was laughing and giggling so much over these two. And then on the other side I was frustrated with them as well that they didn't speak plainly. So much could have changed, but if that had happened then we wouldn't get the parts that brought many smiles to my face. And these two had to learn and grow together, even through the struggles and frustrations!I listened to the audiobook and loved the narrator Paula Hunt! She was fabulous and did such a great job bringing these characters to life through her narration. It was truly delightful to listen to!Content: Clean.I received an audiobook arc from the producer, Dreamscape Select, via NetGalley. But I have also purchased my own digital book. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.Happy Reading!!!

A delightful Regency closed-door romance!

This was such a delightful Regency closed-door romance! The banter between Selina and Sebastian is sharp, funny, and full of irresistible tension. I loved their battle of wits just as much as the slow-burn chemistry underneath it. Watching a would-be fortune hunter fall for the very woman who’s testing him made the story charming and refreshing. Martha Keyes delivers a sweet, swoony read with humor, heart, and just the right amount of mischief.Tropes:• Enemies to Lovers• Battle of Wits• Fortune Hunter• Widow + Suitor• Slow Burn• Closed Door
