Falling for Beau Palmer would be the ultimate crime

Wild horses couldn’t drag me back to the small island where I grew up, but you know what can? Making sure the Palmer family–aka the worst neighbors ever–show appropriate respect to the newest resident of their retirement center: my grandma.

But as soon as Grams moves in, her shenanigans put her at risk of being kicked out. Since she’s set on staying in Sunset Harbor until her last breath and there’s no way I’m staying on this nightmare island to take care of her, that’s not an option.

Enter Beau Palmer, the infuriatingly charming local cop who’s got the connections to keep Grams right where she needs to be and help me get out of Dodge sooner. But he's got a price, and it requires putting the Sawyer/Palmer drama firmly in the past.

But the drama isn’t behind us. In fact, it’s right in front of me, wearing a police badge and a smirk that’s really started disturbing my peace.

Summer Tease

This was another single POV book and it worked really well. I didn't often feel like I needed Beau's POV because he was pretty transparent (in a good way), and there was a plot point about his past that we needed to be kept in the dark about.Gemma is determined to hate Beau Palmer and his family but in all their interactions Beau is just "nah, let's not". I love how Beau wasn't phased by Gemma's prickliness or her grandmother's rudeness. He's so charming and sunny and good. He was a cinnamon roll and a golden retriever, what do you think? I couldn't decide. Either way, Gemma couldn't help falling for him.Gemma's character growth was wonderful to read. She went from bitter and angry to being able to let it go and be open to seeing Sunset Harbor in a new light. The family feud felt pretty one-sided (Gemma's family was certainly more hurt and angry than Beau's family, but we did only get Gemma's POV). For a while, it almost felt like the Palmers had simply won all the wars, so they didn't care about the feud anymore. But Beau and Tristan (his brother) were consistently kind to Gemma and her grandmother, rather than aloof or ambivalent. Once the reason for the feud was revealed, it started to make a lot more sense.Gram is hilarious! She reminded me of the grouchy granny that Muffin pretends to be (and the real grouchy granny she interacts with) in the Bluey episode Granny Mobile. She was sassy, grumpy, and very mischievous.Other things I loved:• Gemma's list of Beau's qualities• GG and BB nicknames• citizen's arrest• the epilogueContent warning: Beau was injured in the line of duty (past)Intimacy level: 1 (make-outs)

Loved it!

This might be my favourite read of 2024! I’m always excited when Martha Keyes releases a new book, and this surpassed my expectations. The perfect romcom for summer.

Funny Closed-Door Romantic Comedy

Summer Tease is the fourth book in multi-author Falling for Summer series. The series is set on fictional Sunset Harbor Island, off the coast of Florida. The stand-alone stories are closed-door romantic comedies (no sex or profanity) and can be read in any order. After being away for 14 years, Gemma Sawyer has returned to Sunset Harbor Island to help move her grandma into Seaside Oasis Retirement Center. She has to get her grandma’s house ready to sell, while avoiding her grandma’s annoying neighbors, the Palmers. They own the Seaside Oasis, which just adds to her irritation about the situation. When she gets pulled over by handsome police officer Beau Palmer, she almost explodes. He spends his time trying to win her over and sharing the good things about the island. Naturally Gemma can’t resist Beau’s golden retriever personality. The best thing about Summer Tease is the banter between Gemma and Beau, with Beau’s dog, Xena, a close second. Grandma’s shenanigans and the residents of the Seaside Oasis Retirement Center make this story one of the funniest of 2024.I enjoyed listening to Summer Tease. The narrator, Ariel Royce, does an outstanding job performing all of the characters. I‘m looking forward to reading and listening to additional titles in the Falling for Summer series. These stories could easily be made into Hallmark movies. After purchasing the ebook from Amazon, I received an advance review copy (ARC) of the audiobook from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I great enemies to lovers!

I love enemies to lovers so I was really excited to be able to read/listen to this one. From the start, the tension between the Sawyer and Palmer families crackles, and the banter between Gemma and Beau is sharp and thoroughly entertaining. Gemma's struggle to balance her love for her grandmother (who is a hoot) with her desperation to escape Sunset Harbor feels real and relatable, while Beau’s charm and persistence make him impossible to resist. Their forced alliance quickly turns into something more, and watching their relationship evolve is both swoon-worthy and heartwarming.Beyond the romance, the book shines with its quirky small-town setting, unforgettable side characters, and the kind of humor that keeps you grinning from start to finish. If you love enemies-to-lovers romances with a touch of family chaos and a whole lot of charm, this is the perfect beach (or anytime) read!I listened to the audiobook and thought the narrator did a great job with all of the characters. I received an audiobook from Dreamscape Media Paradigm Press via NetGalley. All opinions in this review are my own.

Another good story from the Falling for Summer series!

A new hidden gem from Martha Keyes!!The Sawyer/Palmer family feuds are legendary on the island. So when her Gram moves into the Palmer family retirement home, Gemma comes to the island to make sure Gram is being treated fairly amidst all the history between the families. What Gemma didn’t take into consideration was the shenanigans Grams would pull at Sea Side Resort and risk her ability to stay. While Gemma tries to convince the Palmers that Grams can stay, Beau Palmer uses it as an opportunity to change Gemma’s mind about the island and hopefully him! What you’ll find:Tour of islandManateesA misbehaving GramCute nicknamesA Bird feeder feudA PR campaignApologies and ForgivenessBeau is so charming and dedicated to helping the people of Sunset Harbor it’s difficult for Gemma to resist falling hard for him!The “citizen’s arrest” was my FAVORITE and the sweetest GRAND GESTURE comes of all places during a city council meeting! It made me teary!!I’m absolutely loving all the characters in the Falling for Summer series and Summer Tease is a great addition to the series!Romance Content: Just Kissing!Available on Kindle Unlimited!
