Sort of like a Hallmark Movie, but not in a good way.....

I really never felt chemistry between the main characters. Hero breakis up with heroine just when she though he was going to ask her to marry him. Then her best friends are killed in a car wreck. She was injured but recovered. Hero was given guardianship of their daughter. Heroine sues for shared custody and loses. He is very wealthy and she works for his corporation in another state. They have not seen each other in a couple of years. After a school shooting, hero decides to move all his companies in his corporation to Montana. Heroine wants to quit so she doesn't see hero boss on a daily basis. She. risks losing a big severance package if she doesn't go to Montana for two months to get the office space designed. But she gets to see the child of her BFF who died in the car crash. From then on the story tries to build a romance second-chance style, but for me it was not believable. One he is her boss. Two, he breaks up with her and breaks her heart. Three, he takes the guardianship of her BFF child. She helped to deliver and nuture the child and she is denied any access after their deaths. Four, then he blackmailed her into making ready the office space for the company move to Montana in order to see the child.. Sounds like someone to love after a 5year break? I couldn't see this even as a Christmas story.

3 1/2 Stars

I started out not liking the hero and I can't say that my opinion of him changed a whole lot during the story. Cormac Sheenan was the owner of a large, successful media empire. One of his most valued employees was Whitney Alder. They had a complicated relationship as former lovers, current boss-worker, and adversaries in a child custody case. When Cormac decides to move his company headquarters to Montana from California, Denver based Whitney gives her notice to quit the company.. A sixty day temporary move is negotiated to give Whitney a good severance package and the right to see her goddaughter, Daisy. Daisy is a delight. Kris Krinkles is wonderful. Cormac remains a jerk who takes advantage of Whitney's work ethic and feelings for him and for Daisy. Ugh. There were so many times I just wanted to slug him! Normally I love an epilogue. I think this is the first time that one has completely turned me off. *******************SPOILER ALERT*************** 1) Cormac and Whitney head to Las Vegas to get married. Oh, sheesh.....any place but there!! This is where Daisy's parents were killed in a car crash on the way to their hotel after renewing their vows! That just turned my stomach. If they didn't want to marry in Montana (and why not?), there were so many other places they could have married. 2) And Whitney, the brilliant woman who managed so much of the success of the company and the successful relocation of it to Montana, decides to be a stay at home mom? For a four year old? There is nothing wrong with being a stay-at-home mother. But this was such an abrupt switch that it didn't make sense. A part-time position, sure. Working alongside her husband until they have a child, sure. This....no. Sorry, I just don't buy it.

There are no sexual situations to offend any readers

Merriment and Love

A sweet four year old making a wish with Marietta's latest Santa stirs all the delight and merriment of a small town Christmas tale. The fact that Daisy is the goddaughter of Cormac Sheenan does make your eyebrows go up. The man is head of an entire media empire, focused, a giant to his employees in the big city. When Daisy wheedles her way into getting him to move to Marietta, seemed a miracle in itself. But it was just the tip of the iceberg as we meet Whitney Alder, who both Santa and Daisy think would make the perfect answer to her wish.

Which is it?

I have enjoyed Potter's books and usually read them in a day. While reading this book, I Got a little confused. One part of the book as are good Cormac had a ring in his pocket, ready to pop the question until he became aware of a couple in the restaurant that were quarreling through their dinner. This reminded him of his parents marriage and he just knew that would be his marriage, so he didn't propose. Later in the book he says he ended it when Whitney mentioned their one year anniversary and he thought she was hinting at something more permanent so he broke it off. Hmm.....which was it?

Great Holiday Story

I have loved all of the Taming of the Sheenans books so far and really enjoyed Cormac's story. Cormac decides to uproot his entire company after a shooting at his daughter Daisy's school scares him. They return to Marietta to be closer to family and live the simpler life that Montana offers. Whitney is his daughter's godmother but their relationship is much more complicated than that. Whitney does not want to relocate to Marietta, she wants to stay in Denver far away from Cormac, but he convinces her to help get the company relocated in order to collect her severance. As they spend time together for the first time in a few years, old feelings resurface complicated by Daisy's Christmas Wish. Great writing and characters you want to cheer for plus Santa Claus, make an enjoyable visit to Marietta for the holidays!
