He needs money. She needs safety. Fate gives them each other—and neither is pleased about it.

Life is finally falling into place for Dugray Dawson. His newly purchased, rundown estate is his chance to build the future he’s always wanted—if he keeps his focus sharp and his heart firmly out of the equation. But when he comes upon a carriage accident and rescues the lone survivor, a maid claiming to be a runaway princess, his orderly plans begin to unravel.

Zia Petrovich has traveled halfway across Europe to escape an unwanted arranged marriage and seek protection from an uncle she has never met. Instead, she awakens in the dilapidated home of a surly, frustratingly handsome gentleman who doubts every word she says. She thinks he’s stubborn; he thinks she’s spinning tales. Yet neither can ignore the growing spark between them.

When Zia’s betrothed discovers her location, danger closes in from all sides. Dawson’s future and Zia’s freedom hang in the balance, forcing them to choose between their carefully constructed plans…or the unreasonable pull of their hearts.

This clean Regency romance offers the vibes of a grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity, hidden identity, reluctant caregiver, and class divide romance.

Series Note:

This is final novel in the An Unlikely Match series, following Saving Anna, An American in Duke’s Clothing, and The Baron’s Rose. Each book may be read as a stand alone.

Sweet series

I have enjoyed this series of books. They can be read stand alone, but I love knowing the history of the other characters and it's fun to see their stories continued. Dawson and Zia were great. I enjoyed this book.

Clean romance

Dawson and Zia are two different characters with different outlooks of life. One from privilege but thought to be their due, the other thinking they are not worth anything good. They both learned to see the whole picture of people and how words said and not said can change something from good to bad or the reverse.Great characters and a fun plot! The other books in the series are all added to when read together but can be read alone.

Wonderful story

I’m not sure if it was the book or me, but the first few chapters moved a little slowly. Then it picked up and became quite enjoyable! I had fun learning their characters and seeing their growth as they grew in maturity and love.

Wonderful

Ms. Strunk has done a wonderful job of creating characters that fall in love under an fake relationship marriage while making the reader fall in love with the story.Zia undergoes quite a transformation from haughty princess to loveable wife. Dugray isn't a step behind her. He has his own demons to wrestle with, though his are of the psychological kind. Zia's are more physical peril. The pacind is solid and I was curious from beginning to end as to how Ms. Strunk would have the scenes play out.Definitely worth your time.
