A Secret Sacrifice by Jennifer Spredemann

A Secret Sacrifice #5 Amish Secrets by Jennifer Spredemann

Moving to a new state and home can be unnerving, especially for a shy person as Rosanna Keim is. However, she soon settles in her new home and finds love. But things don’t go the way she had envisioned her married life would be. Can Rosanna and her husband, John Christner, learn to work through their conflicts and find happiness? Tragedy strikes and now Rosanna faces different challenges. I enjoyed parts of this book, especially the descriptions of the beauty of Kentucky and the love a friend shows their friend in a time of great need. The events after the tragedy seem to move a bit too fast for the circumstances Rosanna is in. I appreciate the spiritual references and faith woven within the story-line.

~I received an e-book copy from the author/publisher (no monetary gain were exchanged), this is my honest review~

A intense loving story

The interaction between the best friends and the girl in the story is intense and so real. It gives more insight into Amish beliefs and how their beliefs can impact lives and loves.
Such a lovely story with a real surprise ending. A other book I couldn't put down.

True friendship

I just finished this book and I want to read it again, what a sacrifice Zach made for his best friend, he really got beat up for it but they stayed true to one another, not to give away anything but the ending reveal left my mouth hanging open. This is a beautiful book, I give it 5 +++ stars.

Love, Honor and Sacrifice all in one story!

I was very intrigued by the prologue to this book. I had never heard about an Amish man leaving to join the military before. Would he even be allowed to go back to his community? What were the circumstances behind him leaving? Then the author totally switched gears in the first chapter by introducing us to the Keim family who were moving out of state and temporarily staying with the Zooks. My first thought was what in the heck happened to the military guy? In due time you find out all about his reasons, actions and circumstances. But until then, make sure you relax and enjoy the story!

I loved the chemistry between Zachariah and Rosanna. I could picture the sparks flying between them as if I were watching them on the big screen. Enter John. I did not like him at first and I think it was solely because I viewed him as a threat to whom I thought the real couple of the book would be. He moved extremely fast and I thought perhaps there was something a little off. But as I kept reading I found myself enjoying John and Rosanna's relationship. It seemed like they were exactly where they were supposed to be.

You'll find this story full of love, honor and sacrifice. It offers a reminder about compassion, and doing selfless acts that can benefit others. Make sure you have your tissues nearby - you are going to need them!! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not required a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A SECRET SACRIFICE by J.E.B. Spredemann

A SECRET SACRIFICE by J.E.B. Spredemann is the fifth book in the Amish Secrets series. It’s a very well written story of love, loss, honor and sacrifice that will keep you turning pages, falling in love with the characters in the story and learning a little bit about what true friendship and loving someone else more than yourself along the way.

The Keim family have moved to Kentucky after having lost pretty much everything in a fire. Rosanna’s father bought a farm sight unseen. They find on arrival that the land is what he bought since the buildings on the land are inhabitable. The family moves in with the Zook’s, whose home is already filled with parents and five children, while a home and barn can be built on their new property. Roseanna is drawn to the eldest son, Zachariah who goes by Zach, but finds him too forward when he up and kissed her without warning or permission.

Although Rosanna felt an attraction to Zach, she was smitten with John Christner, Zach’s best friend, when we started courting her at a rapid pace. Their love was sweet and leads them to the marriage and expecting a child.

When Zach disappeared leaving word that he had joined the military, something definitely against Amish belief, everyone was shocked. However, John steadfastly continued to pray for Zach and for his safe return to the Amish remaining true to his friend. After Zach was hurt in battle and given a medical discharge, it was John who stood by his side with support and prayer during his recovery, bouts with PTSD and dependency on alcohol often sacrificing time with his new bride and neglecting his marriage.

It’s not until a tragic accident that events begin to unfold and the truth comes out about who was the one to make the major sacrifice and why. When the truth comes out, the reader as well as the characters in the books will see clearly what friendship, devotion, dedication and true love is. The author had definitely written a story that will have you turning pages, wiping a tear and finally realizing why things happened the way they did. It’s a story that will stay with you and one you will want to share. I highly recommend A SCRET SACRIFICE to anyone that loves a great story with twists that will have you feeling with you heart, if you love the Amish genre, or just out and out loves a wonderful written story that will make you laugh, cry, smile, and frown all within its pages and leave you happy at the end, but hoping the characters in this book continue on in another book.
