If the heart is deceitful above all things, can it be trusted to find its way home?

Juliana Issot left Yorkshire behind for the glittering promise of London. But when her beloved godmother invites her to a Christmas house party, she returns—certain that her future lies elsewhere.

Willelm Armitage has always known where Juliana belongs: at home, by his side. But after she rejected his love once, he refuses to make that mistake again.

As pudding, games, carols, and charades bring them closer, old feelings resurface. Yet when nostalgia turns into something deeper, Juliana must face the truth: Has Willelm known her heart better than she ever did?

An OK read but no more

A Regency romance involving a weeks-long Christmas gathering, and a succession of misunderstandings between the two lead characters. The male lead is someone the reader easily warms to, but not (at least as far as I am concerned) the female lead. She came across to me as too self-centred and immature. The misunderstandings became a bit repetitive. I would have preferred the ending to have been less rushed.

An entertaining read

I just loved the character of Willelm, he was of average height and looks but he had a heart of gold! He was so thoughtful and caring of other’s feelings. Whereas, Julianna, I just couldn’t like, she seemed very self-centred and she reminded me of a child who only wants a toy when someone else has it and then sulks about it. I did enjoy the Christmas/New Year house party setting with all the entertainments and traditions. I found this to be an entertaining read with just the right setting for this time of year.

Great seasonal read

This is another good book from Jennie Old friends meeting up again at a Christmas house party n the area they grew up together in. Willelm is now a local squire and happy in the country, and Juliana now enjoys London and the social scene. I was pleased when I heard the setting for this book was in Yorkshire, and delighted to assist with some details of the Ripon area, and Yorkshire ways having lived in that area. Some might say this would colour my opinion of the book, but it is Jennie's story writing and plot, not to mention the characters that make this book. It is an excellent and enjoyable read, which I could not put down, just we need as we enter the festive season. I thoroughly recommend it, and look forward to the titles in this festive series from by a group of authors.

Really Loved This Book!!

I was hooked early on in the first chapter and found myself reading into the early morning hours. It’s a really beautiful story set amid the excitement of the Christmas season. I liked that the author held true to past traditions of that timeperiod. The characters are likable and so well written that you find yourself pulled into their story wondering what they’ll do next, and rooting for them.I loved this book and definitely recommend it. It’s a clean novel with a great, original story.
