She’s determined to hold on to her family’s legacy. He’s determined to make it his own. But love has a way of upending even the best-laid plans…

Marianne Edgewood has only ever trusted one thing—Brindale Castle. The centuries-old estate is strong, unchanging, and the only true home she’s ever known. When a distant heir suddenly inherits the property, she refuses to give up her place within its walls. No matter what it takes, she must find a way to stay.

At last, Peregrine Osborne has everything he’s ever wanted—his uncle’s approval, the admiration of his London peers, and now, the deed to a magnificent castle in Kent. Restoring Brindale to its former glory should be his greatest triumph. If only its infuriatingly stubborn—and undeniably captivating—resident weren’t standing in his way.

As Perry embarks on ambitious renovations, Marianne resists at every turn, challenging his plans and unsettling his heart in ways he never expected. The more he fights for control of Brindale, the more he begins to question what—or who—truly makes a house a home.

A battle of wills soon turns into something far more precarious… a battle of hearts. And when Marianne and Perry are forced to choose between pride and passion, they must decide if winning the castle is truly worth losing each other.

a charming read

I found this story to be quite charming, but it wasn’t a riveting read, no great plot, with a rather bland portrayal of the characters, and the usual set up for the next book in series.

Loved it.

Another great book by this author. The characters felt real as they were not perfect but learned and grew as people. They learned to love each other not from lust but getting to know each other.

Sweetly endearing story!

A sweetly endearing story of pure love is gradually established and shared by two young, naive minds in a quaintly idyllic setting, becoming quite suspenseful before a successful union!

An engaging story.

This was an engaging story with likeable characters. Marianne Edgewood had lived a very sheltered life and not mixed with many people. I did feel for her, she had no friends as such and had no idea how to go about in social situations. Peregrine Osborne( Perry ) seemed a quite full of his own importance when he first arrived and worried what others might think of him. I was pleased to see him mature quite quickly as the story unfolded. Although Marianne and Perry didn’t get on at first it seemed as though they might be changing their feeling towards each other. However, there are several others who are not pleased at such a match. This was a gentle, entertaining romance.
