Falling in love with an earl in 1815 was the easy part. Leaving him behind will be impossible.

Evaline Johansen, heiress to a billionaire empire, has everything—except belonging. When a chance visit to a portrait gallery reveals her own face in an 1815 painting, she follows the mystery straight into the past… and into the orbit of the man who painted it.

Lord Oliver Hereford never expected London’s newest sensation to be a bold, captivating woman unlike anyone he’s ever met. Evaline may dazzle the ton, but it’s her fearless spirit that threatens his carefully guarded bachelorhood.

But as their attraction deepens, Evaline uncovers the truth: her time in 1815 is limited, and returning home may cost her the only love she’s ever known. Oliver faces an impossible choice—cling to the life he’s always trusted, or fight for the woman who changed everything.

A heart-tugging time-travel Regency romance where love spans centuries… but fate demands a price.

Fun Regency time travel novel

3.5 stars I liked this book but not as well as the first one in the series. I felt like this one was rushed to publish because there were quite a few mistakes in it-not something I usually encounter with this author. A good, if predictable, storyline. I would have liked to see more character development and just more knowledge about the characters in general.

A clean time travel romance

When Evaline Johansen's friend Anna invites her to attend a masquerade ball at Twickenham Manor, she packs her favorite Regency renenactment gown and an old journal, which contains her Regency bucket list, and flies to England. She finds a picture of herself at Twickenham Manor and the next thing she knows she's 200 years in the past.

None of the women have captured Lord Oliver Hereford's attention enough to make him want to get married, despite the pleas from his mother, until he meets the unknown "Lady Eva". She's so different than all the other women at the ball, but sometimes she uses words that are strange to him.

This was a little different than the other Twickenham books I've read in that Aunt Nellie only makes a few appearance. I kind of missed her "time is a fuzzball" explanations. I wondered how Eva and Oliver would get together since she came back to 2020 without him and his attempt to follow her didn't quite work out. I loved Eva's Regency bucket list and how she managed to check off so many items on it.

I like the Twickenham time travel romances because they're sheer fantasy. I love certain aspects of the Regency time but I wouldn't want to live there permanently, so being able to time hop would give me the best of both worlds.

Seems So Silly But So Enjoyable

Regency romance and time travel seems silly to think about, but reading takes us places we wouldn't normally go, so it's perfect. I loved the first book of Jane and Algernon, and this story of Eva and Oliver is just as good. One experiences America and England, now and then. The differences are fun and the people involved are dear. Enjoy!
