Sweet,

Light, easy and entertaining stories with young widows as the main focus. All have solid heroes who “do the right thing” by each of their heroines.

Sweet collection of regency stories

I liked the theme for this collection of regency stories. Each author added her own twists and spin on a tale of a widow in the regency era, with a few characters overlapping each story. Each one was a sweet and clean romance, and I enjoyed the stories and how they worked individually and as a whole collection.

The Secret Society of Young Widows

During a time when widows had few rights if any, Lady Joanna Kingswood organizes a social club, the Secret Society of Young Widows, to protect the widows’ rights and help those who ended up destitute. This book includes three interesting stories of three women who find a greater love the second time around. The audio was very well done. I liked the author’s descriptive voice of the characters in the stories. I particularly liked the third story and the narrator’s depiction of the child’s voice, as well as the added themes of old friends renewing acquaintances, second chance at love with a previous almost fiancée, restitution of swindled property, and reconciliations within a family.

Uneven, but generally good.

Not all of the stories were equally good. There seemed to be a bit of uneven writing ability, but that may be my overly critical eye.Certainly, it is a collection to keep buying, as one always finds gems hidden within and new authors to experience.
