A delightful variation on this treasures classic.

The characters remain the same but the journey to love and happiness for Elizabeth and Darcy (and Bingley & Jane) takes the reader down after delightful road. I really enjoyed this story.

Anachronistic to say the least

Language and syntax too American. Elizabeth Browning could not have been quoted when Elizabeth meets Darcy as Browning was only born in 1806. I’m all for dramatic licence but this throws the reader right out of the story. Out of character for Lizzie and Darcy in my opinion, and sense of propriety done away with all together. I managed a few pages only so can’t comment on the rest of the story.

Beyond appearances, Love is deep

Since I love Pride and Prejudice, I was suspicious of a book that would feature segments from the original. Yet the focus on Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy pleasantly surprised me. Events from P&P were sprinkled in the plot in a respectful manner. Without the deep development of the variety of characters in the original, references were acceptable. In this story I felt I learned more about the personalities of Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam, especially his sister and cousin. This book has a personality focus on the thoughts, conversations, and deep love of Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam. For that especially, this is an endearing version of their romance !
