Two opposites. One chance rescue that leaves no chance for stopping our chemistry.

Coming from a family of all boys who play hockey, all I ever wanted was to be seen by my dad. When he offers me an opportunity to intern at his startup sports magazine, I jump at the chance to impress him. It’s not until after I’m given my first assignment that I find out the catch.

I must write a hit piece on his rival team.

It shouldn’t be too bad. It’s not like I’m friends with these guys.

Enter Noah Miller

AKA: The Team Flirt.

Actually, I should first introduce his jaw line, and then you’ll understand my flustration. No, that’s not a typo. I’m 100% flustered when he’s nearby.

Never fear because my super-shield instincts tell me to resist him at all costs. It won’t be too long, and I’ll have this hit piece done and dusted.

Problem: He’s handsome.

Again, I point to the jawline.

More infuriatingly, he has the super talent of rescuing me. It would be swoony if I wasn’t tasked with destroying his team.

No one—especially Noah—is worth ruining my chance of finally making my dad proud of me.

Not even when Noah saves me one more time.

Or another time after that.

Why is he so good at that?

It’s absolutely maddening!

Shot Through the Heart is a closed-door-yet-swoony-eyes romance that delivers an all-things-hockey-and-wholesome romcom.

Sweet

This is such a sweet story! I enjoy it when people who are supposed to be rivals are drawn to each other. I also enjoy it when people who are supposed to be digging up dirt or making people look bad realize the error in their thinking and refuse to do it, regardless of the fall-out.

Noah 😍

This is the second book in this series but can be read as a standalone. I just loved this forbidden love story. Noah’s stepdad and Paisley’s father are arch nemesis from their hockey days. Paisley is working for her dad’s magazine to paint Noah’s stepdad’s hockey team in a bad light. Along the way Paisley learns Noah and his team are amazing and see her when she hasn’t been seen before. There is an HEA but the epilogues open up for more to come and a slight cliffhanger to leave the reader wondering what’s happening next.

Noah and Paisley

This is an interesting book with plenty of rival characters and some supporting players. I enjoyed reading the family dynamics and seeing how they shaped the Paisley and Noah. I enjoyed how the main characters changed and grew and learned to deal with and accept their families. I recommend this book.

Shots Sweets & Secrets

I'm a girl who will forever be in my hockey romance era, and this book is another perfect addition to the closed-door hockey world. It's a swoony kisses only, dual POV, opposites-attract, hidden identity, he's a golden retriever hockey player with baggage, she's a quirky wannabe sports reporter/photographer trying to impress her father, he rescues her, anxiety rep, forced proximity, an ornery dog, lots of desserts, and a pretty awful family rivalry that drives the storyline. I loved how JP added the Easter egg by using one of Kerry Evelyn's fictional hockey teams as their rivals and as part of the story. It's sometimes fun to see worlds cross over between authors. This book is quite the emotional rollercoaster, but with plenty of laughter and witty banter mixed in. JP is one of my favorite authors, and I can't wait to read the next installment of this series!

Not for me

It seems like this book was made for teenagers. The characters were so immature, and it was difficult to relate to the story. Kind of disappointed in the whole book. Frankly, i'm not sure why I even finished it.
