About the Author

When she’s not on the hunt for the perfect taco, award-winning author, choreographer, and screenwriter Candice Y. Johnson, loves spending time dancing across the keyboard, penning heartwarming, swoon-worthy, emotional stories that inspire compassion, provoke thought, and of course…always bet on love. Out of the many accolades she’s earned (including serving as choreographer for a four-time Emmy award-winning television special), one of the Texas resident’s proudest accomplishments? Writing about her favorite food – TACOS, of course!Just as unpredictable as the Texas weather, Candice loves writing in multiple genres (romance, women’s fiction, inspirational, holiday, non-fiction, children’s books), and spending time with her creative husband – whom she’s convinced the world to call “Hershey,” as they collaborate on stage plays, films, and concerts…or munching on tacos, with a side of cupcakes.

Talkin Tacos

Oh this was the story I didn't know I wanted. Ari and Rochelle were my least favorite characters from Paisley and Ever's book. While Gammy and Unc Chester were my favs. Somehow, someway you got Ari and Momma Rochelle on the good side now. I'm so glad that we got to see a softer side of both. Glad that Talent and Ari got their HEA.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A Sweet Second Chance at Love Story

This is a love story about a young mother rebuilding her life after a divorce. I didn't read book 1 and I did wonder if this main character was a negative protagonist in that story from things said on the page.Ari has joined her sister Paisley's Taco truck business, doing a taco run with a second truck called Baby Girl. The naming of the trucks is cute BTW.She is still learning how to manage her new career and balancing the needs of her twin infant children when the story opens. The arrival of Talent, a former teen boyfriend who has just returned to town is the catalyst for change in her life. Ari has already grown up a lot, going through the breakup of her marriage at the same time as finally achieving her goal of becoming a mother.Talent has just come off a nasty breakup that has left him wary and broke. Working with Ari is an ideal stop gap as he relooks at his plans to open a restaurant that were derailed by his breakup. This is a slow burn kind of relationship, with both protagonists wary of taking romantic risks, though Talent is clearly very taken with Ari.There was a lot of ex interaction in this story which caused me anxiety when reading it but that's a me problem. Ari's ex was suddenly interested in getting to know his children which was a positive thing, despite the potential for conflict. Talent's ex had her own motivations. This was a very family oriented story with a big focus on Ari finding out who she was in the bigger picture, but also learning how developing her own confidence in herself helped her to be a better parent to her beloved children. An enjoyable read and a satisfying ending with a promise of more in the series.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Talk Taco to Me

Talk Taco to Me is the second book in Candice Y. Johnson’s Taco Truck Romance series. I read the first book but this could easily be read as a standalone. This story features Ari Bent. We met her in the first book. She is the younger sister and was very bratty and self centered in the first book. Ari is now divorced and has twin babies. Her ex husband had gotten his coworker pregnant and after he was divorced, he married her and moved to Las Vegas. Ari is working for her sister, managing a taco truck and caring for the babies. She is surprised to run into an old boyfriend, Talent Malone who has moved back to his hometown. Talent has just broken up with his girlfriend, a country music star and hopes to open his own restaurant. Ari is also dealing with her ex over the babies as he’s never returned to see them and spend time with them.Talent asks Ari for a job helping her on the taco truck. He also spends time with the babies who seem quite fond of him. The couple work together in prepping the food and creating delicious recipes they make and sell. He tells her about his family and how he was adopted but his birth parents still play a part in his life. Talent’s birth parents have decided to get married in conjunction with a festival their organization is hosting. They hire Ari and Talent to provide the food on their truck. They spend most of their time together with the babies and start falling in love. Talent tells Ari about his ex and their problems but doesn’t share that she is a music superstar and a favorite of Ali’s. The two admit their feelings and have hopes for a future together. When the truck needs repairs, Talent insists on fixing it for Ari even though she wants to have the mechanic shop handle it. Ari arranges for the musical entertainment to be Talent’s ex girlfriend, not knowing that she is the ex he told her about. As a result, the festival/wedding results in multiple problems and crises. There is lots of angst and uncertainty for Ari and Talent’s future and their relationship.I really enjoyed the book. Second chance romances are a trope I am vey fond of. It was great to see how much Ari and her sister had grown since the first book. The babies were adorable and added a heartwarming touch to the story. I do not particularly like Ari’s mother, I found her annoying and not a great role model. Talent and Ari make a wonderful couple. I even found that her ex, Jonas has grown and become more mature and likable. The banter between Ari and her sister and her brother in law was entertaining to read. I look forward to reading the next book. Ms. Johnson has created a very good series that I highly recommend.

Nothing better than romance and tacos

This book combines two of my favorite things, Romance and tacos. This book was such a cute and enjoyable read. I absolutely fell in love with most of the characters and devoured this book in one sitting. I haven't had the chance to read book one yet (and at some point, I plan to), but did not feel like i missed anything in regards to this book. It read as a stand alone. I really enjoyed how the author crafted the story and how it flowed. And to be honest, at least one of the characters I didn't like in the beginning grew on me (that other one, I don't think there will ever be anything that will make me like him). This story shows grace, resilience, and growth.I received a copy of the book via the author through Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest review of my own thoughts and opinions

Soft or Hard Shell

The connection between Talent and Ari, watching them mature as the story progressed. My favorite character was Granny. Talent, has the perfect solution to family. Bonus is a magic word.
