I received this arc of the Christmas Blueprint in exchange for my honest review. This is the second book in Sinclair Jayne’s wonderful series, Bear Creek. This book is Sophia Gonzales’ story. We learned that her fiancé had served in the military and had returned home to Bear Creek and then was killed while fighting fires. He has been gone two years but her family and his family has tried to keep her in a cocoon and she’s ready to try new things. She owns her own boutique where she sells others handcrafted items. As the book opens, Sophia has just fought her way onto the city planning commission where she hopes to fight for things she feels are important for her town. It is apparent that the mayor is a roadblock to things she hopes to accomplish. He also makes threats about her business if things don’t go his way.One of her late fiancé’s two best friends, Killian Flanagan, has just moved back and has taken a part time position working as the city planner. The third best friend asked him to move back and take care of his daughter that he just found out about. The dad is in the military and has one final mission before he is out for good. Sophia and Killian are surprised to see each other as he left town years earlier, vowing not to return. Sophia shares her vision for the abandoned building that Killian was hired to work on. His sister’s boyfriend purchased the building with plans to develop it and give back to the town. Unfortunately the mayor has an agenda he want to follow that will benefit only him.Sophia and Killian start spending time together to view the building and discuss her ideas and what she hopes to have happen. Both secretly have crushed on the other. Killian stepped back years earlier after her late fiancé told him he planned to ask her out and then later propose. He is still hesitant to pursue her because of her ex and his family and her family. He also said that he would only stay in Bear Creek for a year, until his buddy is back from his mission. She knows he is leaving and is therefore afraid to act on her feelings. Both Sophia and Killian are so genuine and likable, as are most of the characters except the mayor. I enjoyed the angst and feelings the couple had. This, like the previous book was so entertaining and enjoyable to read. I recommend it highly and give it 5 stars.
