Everything has changed. Except her heart.

Arabella Godwin is an Incomparable in London Society—elegant, wealthy, and meticulously trained. Yet, she has nothing to show for her efforts aside from her pretentious reputation and a collection of disappointed suitors. When her plan to secure a promising offer of marriage is temporarily delayed, she must bide her time in the company of an estranged childhood friend—the much-too-endearing, but regrettably untitled, Augustus Brundage.

As the friends’ tattered relationship returns to familiarity, Arabella must prevent herself from fully regressing into the carefree, impressionable young lady who once foolishly trusted Augustus with her heart. To make the same mistake again would ruin everything she has worked for—and certainly more.

But can a heart be so easily trained?

Augustus and Arabella

I truly enjoyed this book. I love a story that makes the characters come to life and seem real. I enjoyed getting to know the characters that I loved and the characters that I loved to hate and the characters in between. A book that connects with me emotionally is always a winner. This is one of those stories. I encourage you to read it.

Great characters and plot twists!

I loved this book. It’s the first one I’ve read from this author and her writing was engaging and her characters were very well developed and flushed out and complex. They also grew in progress through the story which was enjoyable to read and experience.I most especially loved that there weren’t dumb reasons the H and h Couldn’t come together. It was refreshing to read how they allowed themselves to fall in love and had opened frank conversations about it instead of what often happens in these novels is contrived miscommunications to heighten the angst.I also thoroughly enjoyed that I couldn’t figure out exactly what was gonna happen throughout the book. I knew there would be an HEA but I didn’t know how it would come about. And even when I thought I did there would be a new plot twist around the corner.I highly recommend this read as well as all the others in the series.

4 and a half stars

This was a really good book. The characters were well developed, the romance believable, and the added mystery about the death of Ruth’s parents quite interesting. Bella undergoes change and growth . It was quite well written, with no grammatical errors , and parts of it were very beautiful prose and poignant. Very satisfying ending.
