A woman on the run, the cowboy she left behind years ago, and the small mountain town that brings them back together

Addie Brown returns to Hope Lake to hide from her ex. She has lived her life in fear for so long, she has forgotten what it feels like to be safe, much less to trust.

Knowing her heart can’t handle being hurt again, she struggles to keep her high school sweetheart at a distance. Hope Lake works its magic, slowly seeping into her until she starts to lose her battle with love.

There is no other woman in the world for Shane Turner besides Addie, and now that she is back in town, he is determined to win her back. Between working on his ranch and volunteering at Camp Hope, he weaves his way back into Addie’s life.

Addie’s ex shows up in town with a dangerous gleam in his eyes. Shane quickly realizes it was a mistake to convince Addie to let her guard down when her ex’s relentless hunt spells trouble for Addie and the entire town of Hope Lake.

Once again the town pulls together to save one of their own, but will it be soon enough to save the long held love between Shane and Addie?

Sweet second chance romance

I am so glad Addie and Shane got a second chance. Shane has grown during their years apart. I loved his character. He was such a good understanding guy. Addie has also changed, but not in the best ways. I loved how patient and kind Shane was with her. It was just what she needed. I loved being in Hope Lake again. It's a very special community.

Hoping on Tomorrow

A good read.
With a little suspense, intrigued and romance. One story that once you start reading you will want to finish it. A good way to spend a cold afternoon with a hot chocolate or cup of tea.

Suspenseful clean romance

This book kept me on the edge of my seat in suspense as I read Addie’s story of planning her escape and trying to successfully flee from her abusive husband. Luckily she had an ex-boyfriend, Shane, who had never stopped caring for her and wanting her best as well as a loyal hometown as backup. I’m not a big fan of scary stories and this story was right on the border of suspenseful stories that I am willing to read—Addie’s husband was a really scary dude. But Shane was wonderful and I loved the way he protected and cared for Addie with such tenderness and fierceness while being mindful that she was still married. Great choice for lovers of reading clean romantic suspense books.

Good wins over evil...

Although this story deals with domestic abuse and the fear and withdrawal suffered by the abused, there is a sweet underlying romance.

Shane Turner has loved Addie Brown for years, even though she left Hope Lake for a big city and marriage to a man she thought was ideal. When her marriage turns sour she realizes she needs to disappear before the abuse escalates.

She returns to Hope Lake where one of the first people she sees is Shane, her high school boyfriend. Shane realizes something is wrong and does everything he can think of to earn Addie's trust. Will her soon-to-be ex-husband find her? Is she still in mortal danger?

The highlight of this story is the orphan from Camp Hope. Natalie is a wise-beyond-her-years 6 year old. Shane adores her and takes her for ice cream, on picnics and other activities so Natalie will know she is loved. Will Shane ever be in a position to adopt her?

I recommend this clean, inspirational romance with suspense. I cheered out loud when the ex-husband was stopped, and when Shane and Addie got their happy-ever-after!

I was given an ARC of this story from the author, Danae Little, but all thoughts and comments are mine, given voluntarily.

As always a great read!

Shane is so steadfast and patient with Addie. She is so determined to not let anyone in, in fear that they will get hurt by her abusive husband, whom she is running from. The only problem is that as long as she doesn’t let anyone in she can’t get help in overcoming her fears, anxiety, and, shear terror that he will eventually find her and make due on his threats for her life. The only problem is that she has nothing other than threats and her word against his. Nothing concrete. Truly the only way to get him behind bars is to get in a situation that proves that, that’s where he needs to be. The question is will she do it? Will she let people in so that she can start to get healing and help?

I found myself hanging in there along with Shane giving Addie time to realize that we need people in order to overcome the tough stuff. That we were not created to be self-sufficient beings. That we need others who have gifts and talents in areas that can help that we ourselves may not have. Our creator wouldn’t create a people who were totally self-sufficient. If so, we wouldn’t need to rely on Him for help either.
