Can they take this second chance and make the right choice for their future?

For years, Aspen has avoided going home. But when a family emergency calls her parents away from Sapphire Cove, she agrees to spend spring break overseeing the renovations on the family inn. The timing couldn’t be worse—it’s only been a month since her fiancé called off their wedding, and she was supposed to spend the break on her honeymoon. But Aspen is convinced she’s finally strong enough to go home—as long as she doesn’t run into Dan, her high school boyfriend and first love.

Dan has never forgiven himself for breaking up with Aspen after her secret pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage, but he’s spent the last four years trying. Her interfering parents convinced him it was for the best, but Dan can’t move on. Now he’s back in Sapphire Cove where the memories assault him at every turn.

When Aspen arrives in town, she’s shocked to find that Dan is back, too—and foreman of the inn’s remodel. As they work together on the renovation, old feelings emerge while past hurts resurface. Can they take this second chance and finally make the right choice for their future?

Sweet, second chance contemporary romance

Romance, clean, contemporary;Aspen and Dan's Past romance ended in heartbreak for both of them. Unbeknownst to Aspen, there were some outlying reasons for why Dan broke up with her as they graduated from HS and were about to leave for college. As Aspen is reeling from a failed engagement, and heading home to help her parents, she runs into Dan who is renovating rooms in her parent's bed and breakfast. As they tiptoe around each other, and both finally admit that the attraction and emotions are still present in their current lives, the past comes back to interfere with their present full force.Lovely sweet romance, with some intense moments of healing and repercussions from the past. Aspen and Dan are two honest, hurting hearts, with genuine heartfelt caring and longing or each other along with the sweet chemistry that kept them together in the past. Lovely story, loved the friend who looks to be featured in other books in this series. Parents were a bit flat as secondary characters, but it fit ok with the story. Told from alternating points of view, and loved seeing how committed they both were to each other and still longing for their relationship to succeed.I received an ARC from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review, my opinions are my own.

Second chance at love

Dan and Aspen were high school sweethearts until Dan broke up with her before graduation. Aspen went away to college and hasn't been home to Sapphire Cove since, which means she hasn't seen Dan since high school graduation. Fate brings them back together when Aspen's parents have to leave town, and they ask her to come home to oversee the last of the renovations on the family inn. Meanwhile, Dan's father is recovering from a heart attack so Dan takes over as manager on the inn renovations. This is the start of a new series, and it's a second-chance-at-love story which is one of my favorite tropes. Aspen and Dan have quite a bit to work through--especially with a secret teen pregnancy and miscarriage in their history. Aspen finds out why Dan broke up with her--she can thank her interferring parents, especially her mom. I liked how Aspen and Dan actually talked about the incidents in their past and their feelings instead of sweeping everything under the rug so-to-speak. I liked that even though the old feelings of attraction were still there, Aspen and Dan proved they had learned from their teenage experiences and drew the line at how far they would go.I hated the way Aspen's parents treated Dan--they treated him as if he was an irresponsible teenager, especially when they blamed him for the bathroom vanity mixup which clearly wasn't his fault. I impatiently waited for Dan and Aspen to stand up to them and demand her parents treat Dan with some respect. I almost cheered when Aspen told them if they forced her to choose she'd "choose Dan every time."I look forward to reading the other books coming out in this series. The author handles the teen pregnancy and miscarriage very carefully. It's mentioned but not in detail. This is a clean romance.I received a complimentary copy from the author. All opinions expressed in my review are my own.

Heartache and healing. This is a sweet love story.

4.5*Heartache seems to be a constant for Aspen. When she finally agrees to return to her hometown to care for the family Inn while her parents are away, she doesn't expect to find the one person who can bring healing and love back into her life.I really liked these two characters. Aspen and Dan have a past. They have hurts that need to be addressed and healed. I thought that the way the author addressed their hurts and pain was well done. Dan was ready to fix his mistakes and I loved how he was straightforward with Aspen. I can't imagine how hard some of the sorrows they faced would have been. But I liked how they both had let go of the hurt, offered forgiveness and worked towards healing and a future. This is a sweet story that's a prequel for her new series, Sapphire Cove. Which I am so excited to read Cheyenne's story in book one. Cheyenne has several little scenes in this book and her story is going to be great! I loved her and Aspen's friendship.Content: Pregnancy between a teen couple out of wedlock, miscarriage. Some mild innuendo in regards to the pregnancy. With these topics the author did a good job of being sensitive and not being graphic. It was written in a clean way.I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.Happy Reading!!!
