A passionate crusader, a gentleman lumberjack…can they move past grief and deception to find love?

Kenzie Vega puts her whole heart into everything she does, from fundraising for a cancer cure to her love of the outdoors. She’s especially passionate about forests, and even produces a MyHeartChannel show encouraging viewers to immerse themselves in nature. But while Kenzie’s days are filled with people, her private life is the opposite, and she’s actually very much alone.

A second-generation logger, Peter Olson believes in sustainable harvests while he makes his living cutting down trees. However, he keeps his profession a secret from the fascinating woman in his hiking club. Past experience has taught him that people who love the outdoors get upset about trees coming down, and he doesn’t want to blow the relationship before it has a chance to grow. But when he realizes that Kenzie’s favorite forest is slated for clear-cutting, his fear of losing her overshadows his good judgement.

As Kenzie struggles to save a memory of her mother, will she learn to risk giving someone new a place in her heart?

Hmm

Not a fan of tree huggers driven by emotionalism, but I like the author as well as the series, so I decided to give it a try.I liked a lot of it, though Kenzie seemed too good to be true in many respects. The biggest problem is that the resolution - Kenzie's change of heart towards the loggers - is not really explained. The ending was really sweet though.

Another great book in the "My ❤️ Channel" series

I really liked the story. I was worried when I read the first review, that I would be disappointed about the ending but I wasn't. I liked the characters and the way their relationship developed.

Another Enjoyable Romance In The Series

This story was a reminder that it is definitely better to be honest in a relationship. A clean heartwarming romance with a beautiful setting.

4.98 stars: The Country Gentleman by Amberlee Day

Kenzie, who helps run an organization that funds cancer research and is passionate about spending time in forests, meets Peter in a hiking group and they are quickly drawn to each other; however, he happens to own the logging company that is clearing the forest behind her house, and she makes it very clear that she hates the loggers.Notes from February 2019:Plot and Setting: 5 -- I had a definite set of expectations for a book about a logger and a tree-hugger falling in love, and while a few of those expectations were met, this story went in directions that were so much better than I imagined. There's tension and suspense, but not unnecessary drama or angst. A well-crafted story.Characters: 5 -- The characters felt very, very real. The depth of their emotions is practically tangible, and both Peter and Kenzie grow and change in significant ways. Minor characters are appropriately developed. I was especially fascinated by the way Kenzie would interact with people she'd never met before, and connect with them in heart-deep ways -- but she's unable to truly connect to her dad, which felt poignant and real.Mechanics and Writing: 4.9 -- Very few word or punctuation errors. Well-written.Redeeming Value: 5 -- Clean. Kissing, but nothing more. Strong words about battling with cancer, and the value of a community of people offering support for both those fighting the disease and their loved ones. What really impressed me was the in-depth look at logging, from such different perspectives, and the way the characters were able to come around to understanding and acceptance in a pretty powerful way.Personal Enjoyment: 5

The hugger and the logger

So, I definitely had my own opinion when I started this book. We all have one to some extent. Kenzie has hers and zero room for any other opinion. What happens when you meet someone with an opposing view and fall for them before you know? Fortunately for Kenzie, Peter is gentle, genuine, and patient. The author does a fantastic job of handling both sides of a polarizing issue with a grace that allows both sides to meet in the middle without making either side the hero or villain.
