A contemporary retelling of Jane Austen's Persuasion with a twist of palm trees, fruit drinks, and white beaches.

A quiet scientist, a billionaire who’s just a big kid at heart, and a second chance at love.

Marie Frye has only one regret, and it’s a big one: letting her father convince her that she couldn’t be a successful scientist and have the love of her life, too.

Tagg Berger is always busy playing tennis, or surfing, or skiing…or running the multibillion-dollar company he started in the pursuit of perfect sports equipment. The one thing that slows Tagg down is the tug at his heart, the girl who chose her career over him, the girl he never stopped loving.

After years apart, the remarriage of mutual friends brings Marie and Tagg to the beautiful north Caribbean islands of Turks and Caicos. While the memory of lost dreams keeps them apart, sparks still fly when they’re together. For a second chance at true love, they’re going to have to learn to trust one another again, and trust is harder to build than a billion-dollar company.

Loved this story

I just love Amberlee's writing style. This is a story that's pure HEA entertainment for me, like Persuasion. I do like all her books in the Billionnaire series.

Adorable Adaptation

Persuasion is my favorite of Austen's books and this was a super cute adaptation. The characters were very well written to pull the reader in and make you care for them.I liked the way the story was adapted to a modern setting. I really enjoyed this book.

Sweet, heartwarming, second chance romance

The Scientist, the Sea, and the Billionaire is a sweet, heartwarming, second chance romance. I love that the heroine is a dedicated scientist. I am so grateful she found her fun side and stood up to her belittling family. This well written, charming book kept my interest with its likeable characters, beautiful setting and its great plot.

Marie and Tagg!!!

Oh my goodness!! I really enjoyed reading, The Scientist, the Sea, and the Billionaire (Destination Billionaire Classics) by Amberlee Day because it was such a great story about Marie and Tagg. There was romance and drama, but this story was also about friendship as well. Loved how well written this story was as well. It kept me intrigued because I needed to know what was going to happen next. It also kept me on edge with the different story lines as well. I would highly recommend this story. It was so good. I received an ARC of this story and I am voluntarily choosing to leave this review. Loved the last names of Marie and Tagg. What an awesome combination!!!

4.86 stars: The Scientist, the Sea and the Billionaire by Amberlee Day

A decade ago, Marie's father convinced her to break up with Tagg to focus on scientific research; now, when the destination wedding of mutual friends brings them together again, their former love hasn't weakened, but they're each afraid to admit as much to anyone.Notes from February 2019:Plot and Setting: 5 -- I'm fond of Austen's 'Persuasion,' and this is both an enjoyably faithful adaptation and a lovely story in its own right. Tagg's billionaire status is a bit superfluous, but overall the modern-day versions of the classic plot points are both creative and reasonable. Very enjoyable.Characters: 4.8 -- I appreciated Marie and Tagg, especially how their very different personalities manage to mesh so well. The strength of their love for each other is wonderful, their fear of more hurt is understandable, and their desire to make a difference in the world is admirable. Apart from some stereotypical villains who don't seem to have any depth at all, minor characters are varied and interesting.Mechanics and Writing: 4.7 -- A handful of word or punctuation errors. Well-written.Redeeming Value: 4.8 -- Clean. Clear commitments to reserve sex for marriage, and all but the main antagonists seem to have a fairly good moral compass. Looks at the different ways people can make a difference in the world -- from humanitarian work to scientific research to connecting with people and making them smile -- and also reminds us that even devoting yourself to making a difference lacks real meaning without love.Personal Enjoyment: 5
