Olympia Heartwood is running the family empire, and she works long days and lives at The Heartwood Inn, making her entire life about her job. Which is just fine with her, because the last man she was involved with was married. When the truth came out, her heart shattered, and she's never been the same. And men? She can't trust them. Doesn't need them.

Chet Christopher took the heat for something that wasn't his fault, lost his prestigious job at the country's largest luxury hotel chain, and has been living in his car for a few weeks. When he shows up off the coast of South Carolina, looking for somewhere to stay, everything is booked. But he's got plenty of old Southern money, so he rents the second penthouse at The Heartwood Inn—on the same floor as Olympia.

He's instantly attracted to her—and her luxury inn, resort, and spa. But it becomes immediately apparent that he can't tell Olympia who he is or what he used to do for a living. She's so distrusting, and he doesn't want to go back to sleeping in the back seat.

He can't help but offer advice for her inn, and as they work around bumps and misunderstandings, they start to accidentally fall in love...

Will Olympia open her heart to the possibility of love? Or will Chet's secrets ruin everything?

Hidden secrets and misconceptions

This is the second book in the series. Olympia has had her heart broken in the past by a man that was less then honest with her. She struggles to trust men now and is quick to have a poor opinion. Chet has recently had his good name smeared publicly when he was blamed for a crime and fired from his job. He moves to Carter Cove hoping to lie low for a while as he figures out what to do next in his life. He meets Olympia 3 weeks after moving to Carter Cove when he moves into her Inn. He takes the Penthouse that is on the same floor as her Penthouse. They are attracted to each other but Olympia’s jaded attitude pushes Chet away. Olympia finds out that Chet used to work in Hospitality and has him do some consulting for her. They start spending time together and before they know it are on the Brink’s of a relationship. When Chers secrets start coming out Olympia feels lied to yet again. She has to decide to trust Chet or break things off. This is a sweet read about finding love, over coming self doubt, and learning to trust.

Time heals all wounds

When I was reading this story, there were a few times I wanted to thump Olympia on the head several times.....she just couldn't see past her hurt to the wonderful guy who was interested in her.....I was about ready to pull my hair out when she finally realized what she needed and that was Chet ! ! ! ! ! !

The Heartwood Inn saga

I like the style of Elaina's writing. She puts just enough detail to create a vivid picture. Her character images are spot on as to personalities and small quirks. A fast moving story, held me captivated. Looking forward to next book!
