He broke the cardinal rule. He fell in love with his wife.

Their marriage was supposed to be a matter of convenience; neither of them intended for it to be anything more. But when Lord Anslowe hears rumors that his wife is having an affair, he whisks her away to a house party, determined to uncover the truth.

Forced into one another’s company for the sake of appearances, Anslowe soon begins to harbor feelings for Emmeline, and finds himself wanting more than their current arrangement allows. Emmeline, however, fearing his charisma is less than sincere, is hesitant about trusting him with her heart.

When a scandal involving Emmeline’s father arises, endangering Anslowe’s political career, both of them must decide whether trust, love, and the bonds of their marriage will conquer all that threatens to tear them apart.

An avid reader
A bit formulaic but quite well written

A decent story, although not that imaginative, with good use of language and behviour in keeping with the period. Good characters with a believable and likeable hero and heroine, although the speed with which they fell in love was a little contrived. Worth the 4 stars and I will watch out for another from the same author.

A sweet romance

An enjoyable, light hearted novella. The characters were sweet and lovable, and the writing style engaging. If you like your novellas with little to no drama and a sweet romance, this would be a good fit.

Had a great time reading

I found it smart and fun to read. I loved the male character and there was real chemistry from start. I do recommend it if you want to have a good moment.

Great story

I enjoyed it. A lovely marriage of convenience to lovers story. And a quicker read than most. (Which I appreciate). I have a hard time remembering the story line if it is too long. I was also glad the characters weren't stupid and let misunderstandings get in the way of their relationship. To talk over things and get to the truth.

Clean romance

I have enjoyed this series so much and this book was no exception. Lord and Lady Anslowe are mysterious in the previous books so it was wonderful to finally read their story. Emmeline was a character I liked a lot and her husband wooing her after neglecting her for a year was very romantic.
