Daisy Close fantasizes about a perfect boyfriend who puts her first and loves to talk until all hours of the night. While on a train along the Pacific Coast, she meets the perfect fantasy boyfriend. Not only is he sophisticated, handsome, and strong, he’s also a bodyguard for a delightful little girl who instantly loves Daisy and invites her to dinner with her and Mr. Fantasy.

Ex-Navy SEAL Cannon Culver, has one mission—the safety of a little girl. When Daisy Close is pulled into the situation, his gut instinct is to trust no one, but even he finds himself unable to resist this ‘Snow White’ type woman who everyone seems to flock to. After an all-nighter talking, a date with more danger than they bargained for, and then leaving her when he gets summoned to a mission … Cannon realizes there is no room for a woman in his life.

Too bad he can’t get her out of his mind and too bad she doesn’t let go that easily. When dangerous forces threaten everyone’s safety, Cannon has to make a choice—give up the woman he loves for his sense of duty or let go and trust in a higher power.

Perfectly real

This is a very engaging fun romance story, yes it touches upon some more serious subjects like living in the head of returned soldiers, non functioning family and a kidnap attempt. Overall though it is a vibrantly written romance that I loved. Loving someone is compassion, consideration and compromise and more and the two main characters worked this out! I loved the bell analogy, and this super clean story is one to recommend.

Good but frustrating

Loved the story just not the “anal retentivness” of the heroine. I wanted to yell at her and tell her to grow up. I first forme. I usually just let the characters be who they are and enjoy the personalities the author creates. Not so with Dasy. She is so self centered and winny. “He has to put me first over everyone and everything”. They have group meetings for people like her. Get she was in a relationship that was really not a relationship. But talk about co dependent. What an unhealthy relationship. Cannon, I liked how he was focused on his job but was able to open up. He was vulnerable and masculine. I was rooting for Cannon to walk past her and find a real woman for a real man. It became so irritating I almost threw the book down, but I finished it.What would have made the book great would be to take the focus off Dasy’s selfishness and develop the mystery around the train and Cannon’s job, bringing in the love story as a smaller piece.

Series Well-Done

The Sutton Smith Warrior stories continue, this time with Daniel Banner writing. The writers drop enough detail for readers to link all characters portrayed in the other books. I like that.A Navy SEAL turned security expert. On mission. An editor wanting her own love story. A life-changing train ride. Those characters…the banter, light but effective romance build, and action scenes showcase Banner’s writing abilities. I’ll be looking for his work.Good read!

Not crazy about the story

I've read some of the books in this series and have mixed feelings. Some I've liked, others, not so much. This is also the first book I've read that was written by Daniel Banner. The writing wasn't bad, but I'm not in love with the story. For the most part, I liked Cannon. I didn't really connect with Daisy. I understand why she didn't want to be a doormat, but she was really selfish for most of the book. It was her way or the highway. She expected Cannon to put her above all else, including the little girl he was being paid to protect - and Daisy wasn't even his girlfriend at the time. She got upset when he ended a date because he was called to a work emergency. Come on girl! What about you supporting him?? She finally changed her attitude about 3/4 the way through the book. However, then both Cannon and Daisy started doing stupid things, not the least of which was Daisy accompanying Cannon on a 36 hour protection detail where he had to be super vigilant. The story was a clean romance and had the HEA that I love.

Very engaging

I really enjoyed this book. Cannon was an awesome character and daisy was adorable. Pasha actually stole the story though. The only thing I would change about this is something tying up what was such a big problem the Cannon was going to be called away and didn’t go. I really hope that the authors of the series tie that little event up in a neat bow. Otherwise an awesome story with lovable characters and sweet romance
