A Valentine’s Day promise sixteen years in the making… Deputy Mayor Gwen Olsen has big plans to put her own stamp on the revitalization of Angel Point. She grew up in the charming coastal town, loves its quaint downtown, and she’s confident she’ll be voted mayor if her ideas bring in more prosperity. But this Valentine’s Day, the only thing rolling into town is Carson Loman, her childhood BFF who made a pact with her, sealed it with a kiss, then moved to Chicago and ghosted her. Now his adopted teenage son needs stability, so he’s accepted the fire chief position—and the place on Gwen’s committee that comes with it. She’s the same witty Gwen with a successful track record to go with it. His son’s welfare drives his future, but Carson’s still a solid rock to lean on. So are they merely caught up in honoring a childish promise to marry if they’re both single at 35, or should they seize this chance for a happier future than they could have ever planned?

The Valentine Project

The Valentine Project by Susan Lute, a sweet, heart-warming addition to the Angel Point series. I enjoyed everything about this storyline the character development was perfect for the storyline and who doesn't enjoy a possible second chance at romance.

Loved it!

This was a second chance romance story. From the moment I began reading it I was drawn into the story. Gwen and Carson were best friends. They made a pact that if they were single at 35 they would marry each other. Shortly after making that pact Carson left town and they lost touch. Now he is back hoping for a second chance at least at friendship. Will these two be able to find a way past old hurts? This is a very fun and entertaining read. It is a great addition to this series. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This latest addition to the series belongs to Gwen Olsen and Carson Loman. When Carson left shortly after, due to an emergency, they lost touch leaving Gwen heartbroken.Nowadays, Gwen is the deputy major of the town, with hopes of eventually become its major. Determined to prove to her boss that she is capable of more responsibilities, she proposes the Valentine Project.Carson Loman is back in town after 16 years. He left Chicago and his job to give his adopted son a place to grow up in a friendly and stable environment.Forced to work together, old feelings emerge as well as the reminder that their 35th birthdays are just weeks away. Will they take a second chance at finding love? Or will the old hurts and possible another change of plans have them going their separate ways? This was a sweet, clean and touching story not only about romance, but also about family and second chances in life.I was entrusted a copy of this book by Tule Publishing. The Valentine Project

I received this arc of The Valentine Project in exchange for my honest review. This is the fourth book in the Angel Point series by Susan Lute. I was glad to return to the charming town of Angel Point that Susan has created. In this story we meet Gwen, the deputy mayor who has aspirations of being elected to the position of mayor one day. As the book opens, Gwen is working on her plans for a big Valentine’s Day celebration for her town. The mayor is hesitant to green light everything she has mentioned right away as he wants to make sure everything reflects well on them. He tells her they’ve hired a new fire chief and he will be on the committee to help her. Gwen learns that the new fire chief is her former best friend Carson who has ghosted her for many years. At graduation the two made a pact that if they were both still single at 35, they would get married. They sealed it with a kiss. Gwen realized there was more to the kiss for her than friendship. The two had plans to go to college together. Immediately after this, Carson’s dad died of a heart attack and he left town to settle his mom with her family in Chicago. Carson promised to return but never did and then stopped keeping in touch. Gwen was left angry, sad and frustrated about their friendship and what might have been. She is still single and approaching her 35th birthday, coincidentally. At the news that Carson is back and is to help her, Gwen is less than thrilled. She also learns that he has a 14 year old son who has been going through some issues and isn’t happy to move from Chicago. Carson had adopted his son a couple years earlier. Gwen and Carson spend time together on the Valentine plans. They are able to finally talk about what happened in the past and why. She and his son seem to hit it off and they also work together to get the events planned and set up. It is apparent that there is still chemistry between Gwen and Carson, but will they choose to work on it and build a relationship that’s more than friendship or will they remain in the friends zone?I was glad to have another chance to return to Angel Point and I enjoyed Gwen and Carson’s story a lot. Second chance romances with a return to home are favorite genres for me. Susan’s book was well written, the characters all likable and the plot very enjoyable and entertaining. I highly recommend this book.
